I sit at work all week thinking about the weekend and hunting and the forcast calls for rain.  I guess I will be getting wet this weekend.  It is not the rain that bugs me it is the wind in the wrong direction.

Were finaly supposed to get some rain here this weekend as well. I'm not upset at all it's been so dry here it's scary! A little rain will soften up the leaves on the ground and help the ones left on the trees to come down!

We haven't had rain here in a long long time, The ponds and creeks are in bad shape!
"I would rather be lucky then good, any day!"

Oh no, I hope the wind shifts for you. Enjoy the weekend.

Would you chance hunting a spot that is new to you even if the wind is wrong?  I have my stands set up for W NW and N winds.  I have a pinch point on a creek bottom that runs north and south with a field to the east and the creek to the west.  I am plannin on sitting on the south end of it.  I think with a east wind I will be okay but the south wind is wrong.

Depends on your goal. If you are looking for a whopper dont chance it, if your simply a deer hunter? Go for it. You only get one go round on this sphere, no sense wasting opportunity worrying about wind!

The red it my stand and the yellow are deer trails.  This is the only tree in the entire bottom that I can get a stand into and shoot more than 5 yards.

I think you will be good with east.  My problem this year has been high winds.  I count the number of days this month that the winds have been under 15 mph.  Supposed to be blowing at 21 mph at dawn tomorrow with higher gusts.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.
