I pull 30 1/2" on a 54" recurve.  All you need is a bow that's well tillered and doesn't stack.  Mine's a Shakespeare Super Necedah and pulls smooth all the way.  I do use a two-fingered draw however, to avoid finger pinch.  I just lay my index finger next to the arrow and pull with the middle and ring fingers below the arrow.

I've got a 31.5" draw.  Another thing to consider is the amount of stacking on bows at that draw.  If you start with a bow that is #40 you could be up to 50-55# pretty easy if the bow stacks.  That doesn't make for enjoyable shooting on certain designs.

For whitetails and shooting 15 yds, I can get way with shooting shorter bows, but have learned that anything under 64" (recurve) is not much fun for me.  When accuracy is the "main" goal (3D, target) I err on the longer side.

Wow that is a lot of long draw archer in here... I'm 6'2" and my arm span is 6'4"+ and I draw only 29" is there something wrong with me??

Hot Hap

My first thought would be "a lot". I'm 6'2" also and draw a recurve 31" and a longbow 30". Hap

As most of you already know, draw length can vary somewhat depending on the type of bow and the shape and thickness of the riser/handle of the bow.

With some recurves, I have a 31" draw.

With most of my longbows, it is usually around 30" (if the diameter of the handle is small my draw length  may be only 29 1/2).
May your next adventure lighten your heart, test your spirit, and nourish your soul.

You are going to need to do some homework on finding bows that will work for your draw.

Bows that I own and shoot (32"+ draw) are:

68" Chek-Mate Crusader (longbow)
62" Chek-Mate Hunter II (recurve)
64" Griffin (longbow)
56" Shrew Classic Hunter (longbow)

I have shot others (Ancient Spirits - longbow, Blacktail - recurve), and yes, there are others that will work too, so talk with the bowyers.  Truth be told, most "mass-production" brands will likely not work for you.  About the only way it could be worse for you is if you were left handed too.....   :saywhat:
Hi Bob!
see you have a 56" Shrew, do you have any experience with the li`l Shrew recurve at your draw-length? thinking about stacking!

Thanks Margly

The best thing you can do is call Ron or talk to Gregg.

I shoot 31" and like a 64" bowhunting recurve best (I shoot a 70" target recurve). 62" would be pushing it a little and would not consider anything below that point.
