have decided to hunt strictly with my long bow this year and in the past years i havent shot as much as i have been in the past month sometimes as much as three times a day. My dilemma is my fingers are so raw and blistered that its affecting my shots, I use a leather work glove but i feel like i might be rolling it on some of my shots could that be the cause or is this normal like when you first start playing the guitar?

Bjorn

Your finger protection is not working.........and no, it is not like the guitar. Get a proper tab or archery finger glove and make the blisters a thing of the past.

Jim, what size glove do you wear? I may have an extra shooting glove laying around I can send you.

If you are not used to shooting then your fingers will be sore at first -- no matter what glove you use.  It's like anything else with your hands...guitar, lifting weights, using a shovel.  All will blister and make your hands sore until your fingertips toughen up, or create caluses. (no idea how to spell that)

You'll need to take a break though, as your fingers need to heal in order to toughen up.  3 times a day is pretty rough for "new fingers."      :bigsmyl:

A good glove definately helps, but there is no glove that will keep your fingers from getting sore when you first start.  Once they've toughened you can darn near shoot without a glove.

I would suggest that you try to shoot with a tab!
I've shot both but prefer the cordovan tab, cause it protects more when training/shooting a lot!

Just my 2 c.
