Jeff, one of these days when I win the lottery, I'm gonna come to New Zealand and do some of that great hunting I keep seeing on all these videos! All I gotta do is convince myself to buy the tickets!

Dave, I'm chomping at the bit! I just walked back in from doing my daily 15 arrows through the bow. I'm feeling a lot more confident than the past few years due to the way I shoot my bow.

Equipment is packed and ready to go.(Been that way for a week now!)   :biglaugh:  Wife is practically shoving me out the door! I think she's tired of hearing me talk hunting 24/7.

My season opens Saturday the 4th of September.  After 289 pictures of possums on my one scouting camera I had 5 bucks -- 135-145 PY  (10 and 9 point) in the same two days about 60 minutes before dark. I have a lock-on about 16 yards from the spot. This is my first year to use a trail cam.   It would be ironic after hunting with compounds since 1975 if I killed my first PY buck with a recurve.

A couple weeks and waiting very impatiently!!

Looks like we're in for a decent year. Been seeing deer all over the place. I think the mild winter let many of the young ones from last year live.
Just one more step please!

Good luck everyone. If temps don't go down here, Saturday is going to be pointless. It was 99 degrees here today. I'm praying for a cool front!      I envy you guys that can take more than one deer in a season.

TW, good post.... kind of got me thinking, I'm 18 days away from my elk hunt down in northern NM. I guess that's why when I wake in the morning and start shaving my neck it takes a little longer. My neck is all swollen.
Good luck on your hunt. keep the sun to your back and the wind in your face!

Good luck TW! Sounds like you need a good water source, low ground and thick cover for shade. Kick the heats butt!!!  :bigsmyl:
Alright here's my assesment:
Looks like your going to have good weather this weekend! I bet the evenings will be the best with the given moon rise.
Prolly stay out late in the morning since it's going to be up for a while. The mornings look fairly cool so you could have good movement right before sunrise. I would hunt thick cover with water in the morning and trails to food sources in the evening.

LOL!!  Can you tell I am pumped for this season? I can't predict my own hunt so I had to mess with yours.    :D

I think we'll be seeing some pics after this weekend.  ;)
Just one more step please!

Arwin, I sure hope you are right. I'll be out there before the sun comes up and heading home when legal shooting light ends. Good luck with your hunt as well. Hope to see a P&Y buck on the forum.   :D

Watched the weather this morning and you are right. Looks like it will be a bit cooler this weekend so, hopefully they will be up and moving. I'm thinking of camping near my hunting area Friday night so as to be in there quickly and quietly. I'll just have to see how tomorrows work day goes.

Still a month out for me, good luck this weekend. Looking forward to pics and stories to tide me over for a few more weeks. I've been shooting my Glendel buck every day and confidence is high!
