What do expect from Seigeworks?  You were warned about him a long time ago.  As far as selling the bow forget it.  Nobody will buy one of his bows.  The only one I know of that he actually delivered only lasted about 6 months before twisting all up is now unshootable.  Get your money back, stop waisting your time with him.

If the bowyer agreed to follow your specs and take your money he must do it or refund your money. Of course I would still be unhappy due to the build/wait time you've gone through.

If he won't you can threaten small claims court. I had to do this once to receive a bear rug that was 2 rears over due. I didn't have to file. I just researched the process and let him know I would do it. The rug showed up right away.

Brother I wish more people had spoke up about their problems just about 2 weeks sooner.
By the time the "bomb" sorta exploded with the place I had already ordered....   :banghead:

I would like nothing more than a refund. I don't see that happening.

Hey Joe Keith...What type of bow was the one that twisted up?

Thanks

Truth is you know you are not going to get your money back and if you send the bow back the chances are not high it will be done right or even done at all. Something about blood from a turnip comes to mind.
At this point the easiest thing for you to do is to take 2 hours of an evening and reshape the handle to exactly what you want.  A couple of good files, sandpaper, steel wool and careful planning will allow you to fit it to your hand, as you wanted in the first place.
Is it right that you need to do this yourself?  No.  But if you want it done now it is the most expedient.

Zradix

Sure..I have thought about doing it myself.
As of right now the bow is not at weight.
Asked for low 40's it's over 50 and needs to be brought down.
I might still take it just to be done.

The finishing doesn't bother me.
It's the tuning/weight reduction that I'm not up to.

Makes me mad he had to add Wenge (which I didn't ask for) Just had to be a difficult wood to finish...lol

We'll just see after it arrives.

I gotta agree with ChristopherO.  You could send it back but the most likely result is you will have no bow and no money.  I'd take the bird in the hand and work from there.  Try to fit the grip to your specs and then decide if you want to finish it and sell or send it to someone that could reduce the weight.  It is almost 100% assured you will not reach a resolution with the bowyer. Again, take it and run.

It looks to me like you could just take about a quarter of an inch off the back of the grip and get the height of grip you want, but unfortunately it also looks like the bowyer already removed too much wood from the grip to get the palm swell and thumb rest to match the grip you desired.  It really doesn't look like it should have been too hard to recreate.

Zradix

Yeah I didn't think it would've been that difficult either....

I can glue on some wood to the grip to get the swell. I just haven't made up my mind how much work I want to put into the darn thing.

My main concern is the draw weight.
That is the tricky thing to fix..

Ship it back, pay the 20% restocking fee and call it good. And remember that you get what you pay for. Nobody can build a QUALITY laminated bow for under $300
I didnt miss, thats right where I was aiming

Zradix

He will NOT refund. Says he just plain doesn't have the money.

At this point I'd be happy to take a $60 hit.

Gives me a line of "ship it back to me. I'll try to sell it as a used bow and whatever I get from it I'll send to you"...lol what a joke!

As someone mentioned before, I don't want to give back my "bird in the hand".
Especially BEFORE  I get my money!..lol

I have to admit that I laughed outloud after going through your pix.  Its not even close!  I would be ticked and demand my money back.

R.W.

Zradix,

Tell the "bowyer" you will ship that stick back to him, on receipt of your refund!   :biglaugh:

Best of luck getting this solved, but I think you are in line for a long wait, or a court date.

Greg in Malad,

Check out Dryad Bows, and their bow blanks. Under 300, for the basic bow(s), and quality workmanship.
Also a great bunch to do business with.

R.W.

Zradix

If I had it to do all over again I'd be going with a Maddog.
Prob is my money is spent. I have no more to play with. Just a lesson learned I guess.

A bow blank is not a finished product, and yes they do quality work.
