The fastest trad bow I've ever owned was a 21st Century.  It was one of their first and was not considered a longbow, but was more of a hybrid. I don't recall the model. My son has it now. It's 60@28.  We shot side by side one afternoon and I was shooting a Blacktail Elite 60@28. We were shooting the same set of arrows. His arrows reached the target more than an arrow length ahead of mine at 15 yards...noticeably faster and quieter. I'll likely try another at some point.  :D

Andy, you must have incredible vision to judge that kind of speed and distance.

I've never shot a Blacktail but those older 21st Century longbows were quick.

Andy Cooper

BSBD, my brother-in-law stood to the side and watched us shoot. I could tell the 21st Cent was faster, but couldn't tell how much. I wish I had that kind of visual acuity!

Sometimes it's a matter of the bow's REAL draw weight and not what marked.

I've been scooped on that point several times... bow marked X turned out much faster...and heavier draw than marked and therefore, faster than another marked the same poundage--and was.  :)

Cal bow

You guys have to stop this. I have 3 bows but each time I hear about the next best bow I feel the need to get one. You are a bad influence on me, next you will have me smoking behind the gym with the cool kids. With that said, keep it up, it keeps me looking.

Mudd

Wahoo!!!

Thanks to Mark Sanders aka "Mater" I will get my chance to put my hand to a Shrew. I'm told this bow has manners so I won't have to start reading "The Taming of a Shrew"...lol

Thank you so very much Mater!!!

The bow is a Super Shrew Redline 58" and 50@28.

I think you can safely bet on seeing pictures of this bow being shot.

God bless,Mudd

PS: I feel like I'm on the verge of solving the mystery of why a Shrew.

Actually my foavorite bow was built for me by jess stuart and was given to me in the TG bow trade.I was afraid to tell Mudd I like it the best because he couldent get one like it.I knew it would drive him Nuts because he couldent buy one so i had to serch for  something that was also an all around great bow that Mudd could buy.The shrew is not the fasted bow i own but it fits my hand like a glove, very well manored, not picky on spine and dead in the hand.the first time i picked it up I had 6 arrows touching at 25 yards. It will drive tacks! Its a great bow im sure Mudd will love his.
