Help me pick a carbon arrow for lighter setup. please.

OK. What shafts do you think I should try?

My normal points are 285 grains (STOS 160+125 grain insert) and I'd like to keep using these.

The bow is a longbow hybrid that is 45# at 28" which is my draw.  

Any ideas on? Thanks!

The heads sound a bit on the heavy side for that setup. I would think about 200g up front on a carbon shaft (GT 3555 or equivalent) or an Easton XX75 2016,either cut to 29", would be about right.

Yeah I was thinking they may be a little heavy. I normally shoot about 11.5 gr/# though.

Lets see here.

Total arrow weight ideally would be 11.5gpp x 45= 517.5 grains.

517.5gr-285 gr(Broadhead)- 15 gr(insert) - 15 gr (nock) -12 gr (feathers) = 190.5 gr

Dividing 190.5 by 29"= 6.56 grains/inch need for the shaft.

Does anything exist this light and stiff? hmmm.

I doubt it.Unlike aluminums,carbon weight groups are often 20#'s apart.I find that I have to be a little flexible when it comes to length,front end weight and overall weight.

I have some Gold Tip trads made up for a bow that I pull to 45#.They are 30" 55/75's with 250 grs up front and an overall weight of 568 grs.If you used black shafts instead of wood grain,you could shed app 30 grs of overall weight.If you cut them to 28.5,you could use a little more tip weight than I have.I wouldn't sweat 50 or so more grains of arrow weight than you wanted.You won't notice the difference at hunting distances unless you are taking shots over 30 yds.The extra weight will just give you a little more penetration.

I use the Victory Archery VForce HV in 340 spine with 100gr insert and 315-350 gr tips/BH (vary arrow length a bit) and total arrow weight of 620-650gr. This gets me into the 32% foc range.
