I was able to stop out at the TallTines shop last night.  Shot the solid phenolic riser--DEAD solid in every way!

I weighed up some risers for comparison sake.  Keep in mind there was one limb bolt in each of these so I could hang them on the scale (maybe 1 oz. extra) and each type of wood will vary, but this should give an idea (lbs-oz):

Standard Riser:

Macassar Ebony          1-9
Brown Cocobolo          1-12
Phenolic w/Osage Stripe 1-15
Dymondwood              1-12
Solid Phenolic          2-0

Long Riser:

Dymondwood              2-1

QuoteI don't think Steve can shoot a longbow very well... its probably because he never puts down one of his TT recurves long enough to try.
If I remember right he shot this guy with a longbow.. almost 5 years ago...."You've come far Pilgrim"    :goldtooth:

Is there any way to get to see a photo of the longbow strung? Some of us cannot go to Denton Hill. You cannot get all the people into the booth at one time anyway. Thanks, Ken
"Arrows into the wind", What a wounderful sight!!!

Talked to Brian a bit in the last week.  He is putting the finishing touches on my bow right now and asked to take it to Denton before he shipped it out to me.  So all you fellas keep your grubby paws off of it if you make it there  :)   Its brown cocobolo with a bocote stripe and bocote limbs.

Steve O

Ron has a good memory   :D

For some reason I have gravitatied to recurves for now; I still pull out my Super Shrew for longbow only shoots and pheasant hunting though.

I'm sure I will cycle back to the longbow soon enough.  Mitten knows any time he wants to get HIS longbow out, I will shoot with him   ;)

As far as TT Longbow pics go, I thing the grand unveiling will be at Denton Hill.  If I can get any before that I will post them for you guys.

Herdbull

Steve- All of my 64" recurves are long bows!

Steve O

Guys--I should have some pictures of the longbow this weekend.

In order to give, one must receive...  :D

Brian was working hard to get orders out and stock bows ready for Denton.  He sent me a few pics of some of the stock bows he will have there.  Here is one, but I only have a few minutes, so will have to put up the rest later.

Dymondwood and Canebrakes

Duckbutt

If that one wasn't wrong handed I'd make the first online bid!

Horner

That stock bow is SWEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!  I agree with Duckbutt, it needs to be made for the other hand.
What would you attempt to do, if you knew you could not fail?

Never leave the one you love, for the one you like.

Arrow4Christ

Any idea on the specs of that one Steve?

Steve O

You lefties are something else...

I know Brian feels he makes the LH handles as good or better than the RH ones.  My buddy Gary has two lefties and he is VERY happy with them.

A4C--I believe most of the bows heading to Denton are 60" and 47-55#.

Arrow4Christ

Dang it...if he had any 62-64" lefties I would seriously consider forgoing the wait and getting one of those bad boys   ;)

Steve O

Couple more headed east:

Zircote riser and Bubinga limbs

and

Bocote/Zircote riser and Bocote limbs

Steve O

Dymondwood riser and Myrtle limbs

and

Cocobolo riser with Black Glass limbs

Arrow4Christ

Nobody buy any lefty risers or long limbs  :D

Steve O

Last ones for tonight...
