Craig,
Of course Communications count! Without you we wouldn't be very effective. My wife was a dispatcher until we moved from Utah, then I convinced her one LEO in our family was enough. But she STILL tells me "where to go"!    :jumper:

I don't know about that Dan. I was a police officer in a urban city. We were protective of the firemen. We would get real mad when people would through rocks and bottles at them when they would fight a fire. Especially since they were there just trying to help people.

I was helped by firemen two times trying to get out of burning buildings. It always seemed like when we were running out they were running in.

Having said that, they sure did get paid well and have a lot more time off than us. 24 on 72 off. With vacation, seniority and holidays, I think they had to work a whole 60 days per year. Mike I couldn't let you get completely away with that remark! Ha!

Gil

PS - Mike I see you are in Iowa. I think you owe it to police officers to find a few spots in Iowa to hunt deer for us. Especially for all the stress from having to protect you guys. I had to let you have one more little one before I sign off.

Rich thats what some people in Jersey are about. They will even take your gear out of an ambulance at a motor vehicle accident  just to sell it,even though you are helping others.Thats why Im moving!
I am classified under law enforcement but I deal with the dead,They don't talk back and have attitudes.

Poverty, lack of education, over crowding, high crime and a hot summer. The firemen would also represent a figure of authority. Occassionaly the people would strike out at authority (I think the firemen took a few lumps that were meant for us). It didn't happen often but when it did, we would try our best to send Timothy some business. Ha! Only kidding, well maybe not totally.

That was also a long time ago and I hope it has gotten better today than back then.
