Great looking animals, thanks for the pics.

Oh and in that last pic the closest one looks to be about 10 yards away.

I don't know how far they are but those horns look to be 1/3 of their weight. Nice pictures thanks

Ha ha, yep it looks like you could fit three or four hawaiin goats in one of those Ibex, they're magnificent.

How do you pronounce "Stambecchi" in English?

Thanx

BTW, cool photos, thanx for sharing.

Burnsie

Cacciatore,
If you wanted to hunt those Ibex what is the process you as a resident would have to go through to get a license?  Does Italy require a proficiency test. Is there some kind of lottery draw,  or do you just need a lot of money.  What is the approximate cost?
Thanks,  Burnsie

Wow. That is some beautiful country there! I bet the food is killer too.. I'd love to check that out one day.

Colotrad

The Stambecchi were amazing and yes...THEY ARE BIG!  The country was some of the most rugged, beautiful country I've ever laid eyes on.  Yes Pete, the food was incredible.  To have Felix as your host is to want for nothing.        Here are a couple of extra Ibex pics for you all to salivate over.

Those mountains in the background are where we found the Ibex.  (Felix is the good looking guy on the left).

I'm starting my exercise program now, so I'm in shape when I return to Bella Italia to hunt chamois and wild boar in that challenging terrain.

I sure wish I could add Ibex to that list.  At least I got to shoot them with the camera.  Thanks Felix, for that tremendous opportunity and for making my wife Simonne's and my 25th anniversary trip absolutely unforgettable.

Yes Steve, the 2 bowhunters had some shoots, for now just with their cameras.
The reason i posted all these pics is the friendship and the bond that was created between 2 bowhunters living so far but we so close interest and feelings.I am been honoured to have Steve and Simonne in my home, unfortunatly just for few days on they vacation in Italy. We met on TG and then at the CSTAS(Colorado Traditional Archers Society) annual in Denver. So when arrived in Italy, after some days in Rome I was ready to offer them a view of my side of the country and for sure to introduce to this fine sportsman some of the critters that roam our woodlots. We had really few days at our disposition, but we did a lot of things. We are also been able to try boar hunting with our bows, but that time the boars that were around didn't cooperated.Steve, the big boar showed up as we left, then he vanished again. We became instantly long time friends and since the first minute they left my wife and he missed them.
Steve being a Colorado high country hunter was in heaven thinking to bowhunt these steepy slopes.
