My favorite is the Morrison Shawnee longbow! Quick, smooth, and quiet.

KumaSan

To date the two I like are Fedora and Morrison. I have a Shafer coming in the Fall - then we'll see.

Two Dogs

A&H ACS top of my list, also been playing w/ a Chad Holm -Holm-Made,smooth as silk & very reasonable.

Jim Wright

I own Dan Toelke D bows and a Whip and have yet to find their equals. That said I have shot some nice bows by other bowyers and I was especially impressed by the J.D. Berry and Bob Morrison bows that I shot, both very smooth and beautiful as well. If memory serves, they were a Taipan and Cougar respectively.

SpikeMaster

Mohawk and Howard Hill.

I love my Toelke Whip also.  But as everyone has already said there are alot of great ones out there.

If you want smooth go foam cores.

Well I don't own one, but have shot a MOAB and that's on the top of my "gotta get" list.  It really felt good to me...good luck.

QuoteThe top bows are separated by personal preferences and marketing; you need to shoot lots of them
Best answer I've seen.

My personal favorite is the Chek-Mate Crusader.  Mine is 66", 66@30.5", and gains 2.5 pounds per inch out to at least 31".

I've yet to draw a bow that was any smoother, especially at that draw weight.  At lower poundages, you can expect 1.5 to 2 pounds per inch.

As for me it is definitely a Frank SanMarco long bow.

Just got on here, thanks for all the replys, i highly respect each one.
Never measure the mountain until you have reached the top, then you will see how low it is.

I have shot and owned more than a few.My personal opinion wold be my Mohawk and my Toelke Whip.glen

John McCullough's Griffin longbow. Very smooth, very fast.

I personally loved the selfwood bow.  Looks and shoots like a traditional bow should. The straight limbed bow may be the perfect instinctive shooting weapon. Loved them all. Until the elbow(bow arm)gave out. I thought I was done shooting longbows forever. Would still go to the shoots but couldn't shoot due to the pain.  Went back to the recurve but it doesn't hold the same joy for me. The reflex/deflex design saved the day. I was able to drop bow weight and diminish hand shock to the point I could again enjoy the sport. Now the 3pc RF/DF longbow w/ a heavy riser section helps even more.  While I dislike the recurve size riser, for a longbow, one can't argue w/ the performance and comfort.
Which one is the smoothest? All of them.  They are what they are and we love them for what they are.
