Im not going to say my wife might see this. Breaking is better than loosing one . If its broke it died happy if its lost its out there all alone in the cold.  :(
You can hop but you can't hide.
If it was not for rabbits I would never get a buck.
Yip yipahooooo yipyipyip.

Flying Dutchman

I guess 1 to 1,5 dozen per year
It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that string! [/i]

Started shooting woodies and bamboo in October.  Lost/killed 52 so far.

If I don't split, chip, gouge, score, crack, break, scratch, cut, clip, strip, warp, lose or otherwise ruin a few dozen, I'm not shooting enough.    :D    :D    :D
Silence is golden.

Raminshooter

That's why I shoot Ramin....I break maybe five arrows a year!
Keep flinging those shafts!

jackdaw

It kinda depends on the year. Probably 15 to 24 depending on circumstances. I must say I have lost alot less since I went to shooting tapered ash shafts..(I shoot all wood), they take ALOT more abuse than cedars and penetrate like mad!!! The down side is they are heavier... I like that trade-off. My shooting buddy agrees and has gone the same route. I generally shoot at a yellow jacket field popint bag and only shoot 2-3 at each spot to avoid random nock hits and fletch strips. Remember, if your breaking em', it means your shooting....goes with the game.....john

Can't remember and seldom organized enough to keep track. I build around 12 dozen and shoot them until they start drying up.
My hunting arrows are made "pretty" and I don't go through many. My target and stumpers are what I call "Cimpl Arras".
I don't dazzle em up or even crest em.
Just use boo and wood and a lot of self nocks, stain, oil, fletch, points and away we go.

Cane and Magnolia tend to make good arrow.
Hike naked in the backwoods.

Went through a dz and a half last year. Hopefully changing to alum will take care of that. Haven't lost or bent one yet, knock on wood...  :archer2:

Brock

usually a dozen will last me a year for hunting.....deer, hog, small game, practice, etc.

if doing 3D courses I usually go through another dozen depending on length of shots, hazards, etc.

To me, arrows are like bullets...you got to shoot through them every now and then to keep a fresh set ready...LOL

Maybe one unless I am shooting wood a lot.I will break a half dozen or so during the year with wood arrows.I seldom lose an arrow unless hog hunting. The swamps suck them up with there mucky bottoms.
....Quality deer management means shooting them before they get tough....

I find the key to arrow longevity is......never miss. LOL. It seems to run in streaks for me.  I'll break a judo once in a while and sometimes a couple of target arrows at a single 3day shoot. Then again I may not break an arrow for an entire year. Just never know................sometimes those Mckenzies jump the string..............honest!!

I would have to go with less than 1 dozen/year on the carbons. A lot more on the woodies. I tend to break the points off a lot till they get too short to use.

I buy a new dozen of eastons every year and when i do purchase my new arrows im on to my last arrow or two so ruffly a dozen or so a year
I'd rather hold a recurve than shoot a compound

nightowl1

Ok so I'm running about average if not a bit better. In the past r years I have bought 4 dozen and still have about 3 dozen. Although some of them have become fluflu only.

I came from nothing and I brought it with me.

Since I went to carbons, I go through allot more than I used to...I've reused aluminums a dozen or more times and woodies too. But these carbons, I only shoot once. One shot, one kill. The it goes in the kill arrow box. I don't trust them to shoot again.
