i've always used B-50 so i know how many strings i use for given bow weights but i've been trying other materials such as fast-flight and Dyneema.

How many strings do you guys use for the ranges of bow weights with these materials?

And are you padding the loops with pieces of b-50 or something?

thanks, Dan.

There are quite a few different string materials in the low stretch materials. For D97 I have been shooting 8 strands for 58# and under.I shoot 12 strand D97 for my bows heavier then that.A 12 strand D97 is strong enough for up to a 100# bow,I've shot that on 75# and 83# bows.I shoot some 450+ also and use 6 strands on bows 60# and under,I shoot 8 strand 450+ on bows over 60#.I do pad my loop ends,I'll use B50 or the same string material I'm using.I pad the loops to make them a larger diameter to fill the string grooves better, which I feel helps to make a quieter string.I'll add 3-4 extra strands in each bundle depending on what strand string I'm making.

Also I do double serve on strings with the lower strand counts.A 8 strand D97 and 6 strand 450+ are very close to the same diameter.I first serve with .017 3D serving amd then serve .021 just the area where my fingers and nock go,I don't double serve the whole serving area. This combo fits my nocks pretty good, like X-nocks(Axis/MFX),Easton 3D Super nocks and large groove G-nocks.

I use 10 strand df97 strings. I also double serve with the bottom layer being .017" 3d serving and on top is.021" 62xs for carbon express and bohning signature nocks, or .025" 62xs for gold tip nocks. These sizes fit the bottom of the nocks and I sand the side walls to fit. The top layer only covers my fingers.
