How long will a D97 flemish string last on a bow with average shooting? I always changed my Dacron out once a year but the D97 still look new.

I believe D97 is what Black Widow uses in their strings.Give them a call. They have enough strings in the market place to give you an honest answer. I personally have found D97 to be very durable but some archers are tougher on strings than others.

I like to change mine out no less than once a year, regardless.  It's cheap insurance.  If the string is showing wear, I'll change it more often.

That being said, I've had customers tell me they have used the same string for years.

What you can get away with depends on a lot of variables--how the string was made, how many strands, how much you shoot, draw weight, etc. etc. etc.

I've shot the same string for 3 yrs every day in the summer, and in between rain falls in the winter.  I'm not hard on strings, and do all the maintenance necessary to keep it in tip top shape.  But, then if you drop a broadhead on it just after you've sharpened it, and a strand or two stare back at you, then I change it immediately! LOL

The first place a string will show how well its holding up is the top and sides of the loops. Depending on your bows design, I have always found this to be a wear area that will hide broken strands from a fast visual inspection. Even if you change your string once a year, what is the cost of your bow compaired to the price of a string?

Black Widow recomends a new string every year or 10,000 shots..like others have said I too have used the same for a couple of years with no problem, but I own and shoot multiple bows so I am not wearing strings out.. if it shows wear then change it, no mater how old the string is.

Strings are cheap - what's the problem?  H

My stings last many shoots and some years, but when I go elk hunting they show some wearing after just a season or less,so I replace them and keep them as a emergency string.Anyway D97 is much thougher than Dacron.
