How many old fallen down treestands have I come upon in the woods, on the ridges, and wondered about the stories...the builders and users?  You have history and firsthand accounts to go with this and I'll bet your head is spinning with even more questions!  Well told, Pete.  Hope you finish the journey and share it with us, ...and thanks for taking us this far.   Nice!

Here's to Joe!

A saga that has just begun.    :campfire:   Awesome story to this point. Joe left you a precious gift Pete. Can't wait to find out what happens when you hunt it.    :archer:

Great story "introduction" let us know when chapter one is ready for review! I agree with what others have said maybe you could somehow incorporate part of old Joe's tree stand into yours, kinda bring him along one more time   :campfire:

How awesome is this? I was wandering around my small property today and looking at a couple of really old stands in some oaks and thinking about who sat there and the stories they coud share.

I also thought about this post and wondered how it had played out.

Maybe we will find out soon?

What a cool story thanks for sharing.  I can not wait to hear about your adventures this fall.  :campfire:

Looking at an old abandonded trapper's cabin, or seeing an old hunting camp from days gone by, I've wondered "If these things could talk, what stories would they tell?"  You are privileged to hear the stories by the one who lived them, and see the locations firsthand.  Wow, living memories!  We need to give honor to the elderly -those that have gone before us.

Pete P come on brother let us know what the plan is. That story is just to cool to let go!!
A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight;nothing he cares about more than his own personal safety;is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

Great story!!  I would hunt right by Joe's stand at least once.  If he is still alive send him a picture, if not send one to his daughter.

Way to go, Pete!!
