Howard Hill longbows

I was trying to do a search on HH bows to see some pictures of the self and handle. I could not bring anything up on HH bows, anybody know how to work this out.

Ben,I can see the shelf good in your picture. What spline cedar arrow would you shoot off a 50# bow with a 271/2" draw?

With a 50# Hill and a 27 and 1/2" draw you should be able to shoot 50/54 or 55/59 without problem. The Hill bows like heavy arrows. I have a 27 and 3/4" draw and have always shot 66/68" Hill's between 55@28 nd 57@28. With that said I just ordered a 64", TD "RedMan", 53@28. Looking forward to its arrival.

Do any of you shoot Hill bows in the 40# range, around 45#? How do they perform for hunting deer size game?   Thanks

Osage1, As Bill said, 50 up to 60 spine should work well, depending on point weight.  I use that range for my 55# Cheetah, I like tapered POC..

Stay within your range limitations, a good sharp 2 blade - you'll be just fine.  H

I have a Wesley that is 45@28, I normally do not hunt with it but use it for 3D and daily practice.  I use a Cheetah that is just a little heavier for hunting  but their is no doubt the Wesley will do the job on a deer or pig.

Sharp broadhead and shot placement are key.

Ric, that's exactly the size grip--5 1/2" circumference.  Here's a shot of my 40+ year old Tembo.

I hunt with the 45-53# range, use a good heavy arrow and they are excellent performers inside 25 yds.  My favorites so far are wesley specials. Just seem to shoot a bit better for me than tembo and cheetah. Just a bit smoother in my opinion, but I like and shoot all of them.

I have a Tembo that is 48# at 28".  I have never shot a deer or turkey with mine, either.  It will put an arrow about three feet the other side of a 175# hog.  I suspect it would work fine on deer.  Bill
