I went to my first 3d shoot today and as I shot at my 6th targer my nock broke and my bow dry fired now you all know how scary that is. That is the second time that happened with this bow the first time last year was with a alum arrow and I swore that was the last alum arrow out of any of my bows. This time it was a gold tip that is the first time that has ever happened with a carbon arrow to me. I cant express the anger I felt that my beloved widow had to indure this again. I cant believe how tough blackwidows are I finished the shoot with the bow and there is no damage I can see. The day before I shot my first true trad robinhood thru the nock and down the shaft. When the arrow hit the other arrow I knew that it did not sound good so I walked down and there it was sticking out of the other arrow with the nock 8 inches up the shaft. I was happy about it and sad that I destroyed one at the same time. And the next day I subjected my beauty to such a terriable thing I hope she dose not hold it against me.  Widow

I always hear about how tough widows are it sounds like they are living up to it. I hope to get a widow of my own someday.

I dropped mine from my Lock-On stand about 15' or so.  No problemos.

BW had a video out where they put the tip of the limb on the ground and stepped on it. He then bent the thing all the way over.. like 300 degrees.. They are bomb proof..

Any good bow worth a grain a salt will indure a few dry fires

I bought my MAIII new in 1993 and over the years it has endured at least a half dozen dry fires with no problems so far.

I have not once, but twice struck a tree limb while hunting w/ the limbs of my bow.  Once on top limb, once on bottom...

I swung around tree took aim at a doe and released when my upper limb struck a 2" dia tree limb causing my arrow to shoot somewhere into the next county and my bow to jump from my hand and landed on the gound...I knew I had problems...bow was straight and not a scratch on it
Super tough bows...bomb proof for sure

Glad to hear both you and the bow are okay. Never had a nock break, but I am confident that my widow will hold up.

I watched Mel Riley (IRISH) beat a big old hog that was after him over the head with his Widow! They sure are tough.

There is no doubt that when the "tests" do come it does more damage to my arterial walls than that stinkin Wider.  Wish my heart was as tough.

Although you shouldn't do it on purpose, I agree that a good bow should survive an occasional dry fire. That said, Widows are fine bows.

I sure would like to have one of those neat little PSR 50's style recurves to try out. Don't want to dry fire it but I do like the looks of them. Maybe I'll scratch around and get one, one day.

It's good to know Widows are tough.  I'd hate to part with mine.

Not all bows will survive such a thing.  I lost a custom 2 piece T/D longbow to a broken string at full draw or a dryfire.  I honestly can't say which happened, but the bow didn't survive.

First dryfire with a Bob Lee and BOOM! Switched to Widow shortly thereafter.

Saw a guy at Bear camp dry fire his Golden Hawk 3 times. Knocks were way to loose. On the third time the limb split and the string stopped halfway down the limb.. thank God he wasn't hurt.
