Hello archers, I was wondering if any of you have made any good 3d targets.  I've made a really neat squirrel, but havent found any cost effective way to make any larger game. I located the foam used from smooth-on, but it's as costly as a store bought target. i would like to here your ideas.

I live by lakes and bays and you can find foam they use on floating docks all over the marsh.A big bow saw and a knife and you can make any animal you want.I also filled cheap( $20.00 for three at Dicks SP) collapsible turkey decoy's with great stuff expansion foam and it works great.

Kevin I use an old shaft to hold it up,cut an alum arrow and put an insert in both ends and screw in field points. And you have to put the foam in stages cause it will expand an tear the decoy.A little at a time.

sorry trying to learn how to send pics. The turkey idea is great. the squirrel made was from nylon bags. wrapped in burlap. Maybe the admin will remove my blank replys.

Careful with the expanding foam! Add it in stages, and even then you'll find it takes a while to dry in the foam turkeys. Mine was gooey for a week and that stuff is HARD to get off of arrows.
I won't be doing it again.

For bigger "animals" I stuff burlap sacks with used plastic bags. Stuff them tight and you won't be getting pass through shots with field tips. The bags work great.

Juan is correct you have to let it dry.But after a few weeks its fine.

I just made my first few 3d targets. I didn't even know what I was doing or how to make one. I used expanding foam and a mold. I am glad I saw this post.

Nice Job on the Squirrel target, but I must be honest, when I scrolled down it freaked me out a little at first sight!   :scared:      :biglaugh:

Is that a squirrel from a zombie movie?  Wait a minute, I have a heavy zombie chopper here in my shop somewhere.  I'll take care of that one right away.

I made a 3D turkey target from a cheap turkey decoy from Walmart and shaped a hind quarter from a shot-up 3D deer target.  Stuffed some plastic grocery bags up into the head and neck of the decoy. Use the hind quarter leg for your turkey leg, just shorten it up a little.
