Folks, I'm hoping to hear about the success of interchanging BW limbs (MAIII bow) with the intent of reducing weight and lessening overall bow length.  I've got a 2002 MAIII, 60" 68#@30", and would like to make it an appx. 55#@28", 58" bow.  At the least, reducing the weight.  My concern is a sloppy match on the riser.  Any history of success out there in doing the same thing with the MAIII?

I would send the bow you have back and have it reshaped with the Cnc then order a set of pma limbs or by a used set and have he cnc run in them as well will fit like a glove.

If you are asking if they can shorten your existing limbs then no they can't but the may can take up to 5 lbs off call them with serial number

I would sell the 68# set of limbs and order a new set of MAIII limbs. The new limbs can be ordered with the wood limb blocks and not the phelonic. Send the riser back to Black Widow to be run through the CNC machine for a perfect fit with your new limbs. They will never be able to shave 13# off your existing limbs and by making them 58" that will only make them stiffer.

Darn, sorry guys, I'm just not to clear today. Being new to trad, I was hoping that my BW was kind of interchangeable to a lesser degree as are the Morrisons.  I guess I first need to know if the MAIII risers are the same dimensionally for both 60" & 58" bows.  If so, I imagine I could buy some different, lighter weight limbs for the bow I have.  Or do I have it all wrong (not the first time).
Thanks & sorry for not being very clear,

Eddie

Hey Eddie, yes all MA/PMA risers are the same length.  So the only way to get a shorter bow is to go to shorter limbs.  The SA/PSA series has a 2" shorter riser than the MA and the new PCH is 2" shorter than the SA.  However, limbs from each model will not fit on the other risers.  The riser section of the limbs are all different lengths.  Your choices will be limited to buying a new set of 58" PMA limbs or finding a used 58" set.  Good luck...Mike

Thanks Mooseman, & everyone, for the info.  Sounds like I'm better off just finding limbs with the right weight & then find another bow for the right length & weight both.  That'll make my wife REAL happy!  Actually, I need to find a 56" shooter (53-55#@28") instead of a 58" anyway.  Keep finding myself in dense veg or treestand when least expected.
Thanks guys,
Eddie

I sent my MA III to Black Widow to get reshaped on the CNC machine and got the frost finish.I`ll want to get a set of lower poundage limbs in the near future. They`ll fit perfect when I get them. The bow looks brand new.The guys at Black Widow did a great job.Call them up to talk about it.
