I finally received a javelina mount that doesn't have the common "putty for a nose" look. You know, like the ones you see in a lot of hunting stores sporting those fake looking white teeth, and nostrils that look like they where made by poking two soda straws into a patch of muddy? My taxidermist used a new mouth set that's pretty realistic; it has stained teeth, gums and a very detailed and wet looking nose. This is one of two javelinas a friend of mine and I took 3-4 years ago on the Uno Mas Ranch during the Wensel Pig Gig.  The fellow who mounted them also did Kentucky TJ's velvet whitetail buck. It was worth the wait!

That looks really good. That is the way I want my next javelina to look.

A Gobbler yelp Spring or Fall is a long conversation.

I don't have a photo of it, but the mouthset keeps it's detail ALL the way to the very back of the throat, to where the esophagus would begin.  Each gun area has a distinct color.  The tongue is actually soft to the touch. Actually, the photos don't do it justice. The nostrils are deep with a lot of detail.

Nice! I think you need to take your mount to the dentist and have his teeth cleaned. It looks as though it had no regard for proper dental hygiene.  :goldtooth:

He's been rooting in the south Texas sand too much:^)

Chasing my kids and my degree for now but come next fall the critters better look out.  ;)

I got a couple of javies last spring, and had a taxidermist in Mason, Texas, mount them. He must use the same stuff, because my mounts look very similar. Now, if we could only smell that javelina odor and have a few fleas, there would be total realism!
