Wood Arrow Recommendations

I'm new to wood arrows & would like recommendations on arrow builder & materials.
I want an arrow 28" BOP Tapered 11/32 shaft at 75# spine weight.Have spoken to a couple of builders but haven't found the right options just yet any recommendations would be appreciated.

We'll need to know your whole bow setup,as in is your window cut to center,what bow is it,what point weight do you want to use,what material string...everything

After you give up the bow stats then you can check out this thread that I started some time ago and you can get an idea about the different woods first then pick an arrow builder.

not sure i understand what yer asking about when you say "haven't found the right options".    

you've already listed your arrow dimensions, so just pick a builder and work with him/her.  

there are lotsa trad gang sponsors that offer superbly built arrows with all the options anyone could imagine.

fwiw, imo most any arrow wood will get the hunting job done.  mass weight of some are heavier, some are lighter.  if this is your first serious foray into the wonderful world of the wood arrow, i'd suggest starting with a basic wood such as cedar, fir or pine.  it would also be to your benefit to learn to build yer own arrows - it's not at all difficult and it's most rewarding to down game with an arrow you built yerself.

I agree with Rob. If your having your arrows made to what you want the arrow maker can determine which arrow wood to recomend. I've found it best to follow most arrow wood providers recomendations for what i'm looking for.

Ok i have a 62"Blacktail Elite TD Recurve 60#@27
cut 3/16 past centre using 12 strand D97 Also have a 62" Black Feather TD Hybrid Style Long Bow 58# @27 cut just short of centre 16 Strand fast flight but will be trying a skinny style of string on both bows.Was hoping to try to get the same arrows to suit both bows,I know this might not be possible.These arrows would only be used for traditional club shoot as they require wood arrows only to be used,for hunting i would probably stick with carbons.Some of the people i have spoken to suggested a spine of around between 70# & 80# Hence i choose 75# to start with & progress from there.I Have been  told it can be pretty hard to get good shafts in the higher poundage spines with some timber species in 11/32 size & this is the size i prefer if possible with a tapered nock end to 5/16.The reason for this is i was hoping not to have to move the nocking point on the string to much between the woods & carbons,I know it's a big ask.I thought about making them myself but it's almost impossible to get Tapered shafts here in the spine & size i was wanting to try,So if i am going to pay to the higher costs of importing them from the USA (my guess is around $30-$40) i might as well Have them made up by a professional that knows what they are doing as the freight cost won't be much more as the weight difference will be minimal.So if anyone can give some guidance on which wood species & wether laminated or hex type shafts would best suit this application,as i assume some would be more forgiving than others & a builder that uses the suggested material as not all builders use all materials.I would appreciate any help from anyone with experience on wood shafts as i know very little about it & if i'm trying to do the impossible let me know.

Lyonel, I shoot Blacktail recurves also. Because of how the shelf is cut you can shoot a wide range of spines accurately. When I picked up my first Blacktail at Norm's shop he handed me some 80#-85# ACME arrows so I could test drive the bow. I was surprised at how perfectly these arrows flew out of the bow. If you are wanting to shoot 150+ grain tips I would go with shafts that are spined around 80#. Surewood Shafts makes great douglas fir shafts.  They are durable, consistant, and come in the spine range you will need.
