I've been thinking of retiring (when and if that day ever comes) across the state from you "somewhere" south of Fayetteville...

Congratulations on the sale and good luck on finding what your looking for!  Me and my family live in Deep East Texas and good fishing and hunting are easy to come by here.  Although I enjoy it here, I want to retire to S.W. Arkansas...I love that area.

Ya you got it right,life is to short.Go for it my man.The best I can do is buy some land an hour away,but that will put me in prime huntin and fishin.

Good on ya !  What sort of work you looking for and what type of traditional bowhunting you looking to do ?
MN has some excellent secret spots. ... but if I had my druthers I'd say WI is a heck of place to live ....well, if AK is out anyway. :\\    ;)

Barry I know exactly how you feel. I am 57yrs old and want to do some traveling before the time comes to settle down.  My problem is I have 8 acres and so much invested in my house and barns, that I belive with this economy I would loose my shirt if I tried to sell out right now. I want to do like you and move into a smaller place for a base of operations then I can travel and hunt different places. Good luck on your endeavor.

Thanks to each and everyone for your words of encouragement; big steps but will make them by the grace of God; looking towards Mississippi or Alabama but might keep a small base here in arkansas but move towards ozarks; would love to work for mossy oak camo in some capacity but if that doesn't work out, would love to guide for 6 months and then work during the summer months back here in Arkansas at some kind of fishing resort; we do have some of the best trout waters in the country and Arkansas has alot of different kind of fishing;

Would love to guide for Giles Island or Tara Point in Mississippi; looking fordward to getting started; thank you all....  :campfire:
May the sun always shine bright on your path and the wind be in your face
