Welcome to Colorado.  Its been a cold winter on the west slope.  There is a pretty good contingent of trad bowhunters in the Grand Junction area. Take a look at the Colorado  Traditional Archers Society.  www.colotradarchers.com

Good luck.  I know if I didn't have such strong family ties in PA, I'd be out west or Alaska.

Lived there for most of 20 years, much nicer weather than where I'm at now.  Enjoy the fresh start.  :campfire:

I wanted to do that 20 years ago! Now I just go visit every fall. I still love that country.

I said "it's now or never" in '77. Picked up and moved to Wyoming. There's nothing like the Rocky Mountains. It's the marrow of the earth.

Check out the West Slope area, I lived there for a short time GREAT folks in Grand Junction area.

I have some friends there too..in the pinzgauer world - Dennis and Linda Williams "Linden Engineering"- in the Denver area.

I got to shoot there when I came through driving the pinz back from Wisconsin.

This is what it look like in blue mounds before hitting the road and one of the worst storms of the winter there.

then it turned into this and worse later

Then i had to get out and clear the wipers

Got to Denver...wow what a trip across Kansas (can you get strighter roads) and in a pinz at 80kms an hour and 80 degrees...wow.

It was 75 degrees in Denver and then two days later before I took off it snowed

it looked like this

Left Denver that night and hit 60 MPH cross winds and they had a warning the semi's with trailers that were empty should stop in the pass - so I stopped too. Couldn't up to 40MPH in the pinz in the head wind.

this is what the highway looked like in the morning

Loved it there....Mountains...gotta have mountains..kinda close to everything and when the big one hits you will have beach side property.

Coming through there on my bike this summer I think..maybe look some of you folks up..if it's ok of course.

I'm wanting to head that way myself, got a lot of relatives out in Yuma, but its to flat there. Really like that salida area.
