450 marlin

Hunting north of St Johns, MI in a marsh area a few years back. I arrowed my first buck hunting at ground level at less than 12 yards..what a rush. I spent the morning looking for it as the hit was a little high, but a pass through and he ran down a creek before heading into a thick grassy end of the woods. On my way out to get my sons to help track the deer I found this unique rock (looks to be a meteorite). I left it because it weighed about 15 pounds and didn't want to carry it. Yes we found the buck on our first pass and the next spring I went back and picked up the rock..

If it is a meteorite, it could be worth quite a bit of money.

I would have someone check it that is familiar with the composition of meteorites.  It doesn't look like one to me, but it could be weathered over a long period of time.  And if it is weathered, it should show some rust as they contain nickle iron and will show rust spots after awhile.

Dave Bowers

Yeah I think i would have it checked out...you might be sitting on a gold mine. Nice find

Nope, certainly not Leaverite.  Otherwise it would have stayed put.  Leaverite is usually tossed into the woods by a sarcastic geologist.
Nor is it Fornicite, for the same reason as above.
Looks good on the doily, though!   :)

KentuckyTJ

Don't use it as a "Joe Dirt" condiment bowl it may not be a meteorite.
