I am having trouble with the current bowstringer and being able to string and unstring my new Dakota Pro Hunter Recurve. It seems that the upper limb cup for my stringer wants to cover to much of the limb tip to be able to successfully get the string off.

I'm going to have to get something that will work on all my bows. I have two of them now, and neither of them will work on this bow.

Any suggestions, would be very much appreciated.

I've had that issue, too.  Sometimes you can stuff some padding in the cup so the tip doesn't seat quite as deep.  Keep the packing to a minimum, but it usually works pretty well.

Thunderhorn - Super stringer.
Best I have used.

Black Widow makes a really good one. The top cup is small, and works on most of my bows. Or, try Thunderhorn or Selway with the rubber pad at the top. Then you don't have to worry about covering the string groove. They do take a little more practice to use right.
If it's in your way, move it.

I love the Selway.  Inexpensive, effective, and really kind to the bow...

I like the BW stringers because of the small upper cup.Works well on my longbows and ilf limbs.

We sell the Webster, which I believe to be one of the best stringers going.  They are made from strong webbing and have two different top cups built right into the stringer, so they'll fit any bow.  They are at the bottom of the page on the link below.

Selway. It does one fine job of stringing up a bow.

I second the Webster. Best Ive used, and everyone that sees mine, wants it. I was a die hard Thunderhorn user, till I got my Webster with my ACS. You will not be sorry. No chance of slippage or twist.

My two hands.

I don't like stringers and prefer not to use them.  I guess I just like using my hands and I trust them.  I don't trust a piece of string or leather to hold onto the bow as much as my own two hands.

I've come to believe that the keys to shooting well for me are good form, trusting the bow to do all the work, and having the confidence in the bow and myself to remain motionless and relaxed at release until the arrow hits the mark.

I think it is Braveheart Archery---they have a very nice stringer with 2 sets of upper limb cups--great for all your bows!!!

The Webster is the best stringer I have used. I have found that some bows have top limb tips that are not long enough to fit into the top cup of the stringer and still allow room for the bow string to slip into or out of the string groove in the limb tip. The best solution I have found for this is to cut a small piece of leather that has a small hole punched in a corner where a thin string is tied, with the other end of the string being tied near the top end of the stringer. When a top tip of a bow fits too deeply into the top cup of the stringer, push the little piece of leather into the cup to take up some room and decrease the depth of the cup. It is then an easy matter to pull the leather piece out using the attached string when you are finished stringing or unstringing that bow. Most of the time the stock stringer works fine, but not always. I have used little pieces of paper, cloth, string and other soft materials in place of the leather, but the leather seem to be the best solution. I would rather use the Webster than any other stringer for the reasons stated by others, but I do own and occasionally use other models, and they work fine too.

You can make your own.  The upper limb just get some thick rubber bushing like those used in the lower frames of auto or trucks.  Or get a rubber hell from a boot.   You can just copy the Selway format.  The other end just needs to be a cup of strong material.  I use leather to make the cup of the lower limb.  The string you use should be paracord.

Selway! works great for me, thats all I ever use.
