I went out on the evening of November 4th to hunt some public land. I had an area I knew the deer were using that isn't really suitable for a stand.  I think the deer have largely become accustomed to traveling the brushy areas and avoiding the wooded areas because of the intense hunting pressure they have been recieving. I just recieved my new Double Bull chair a couple days earlier and was anxious to try it out. About 5 pm I had my first activity a young 6pt and 2 does which walked past at about 15 yards. I wasn't really in a blind, but just sat behind a bush. I was happy to see they went on by with only a passing glance. Later I had 4 more small bucks and several does go thru about forty yards away. Then I saw 3 more bucks come by a little nicer than the first group. And finally a really good buck passed. I stopped him with a couple grunts but he moved on and disappeared. I tried a snort wheeze but nothing. light was fading fast and I looked left and this buck was walking back around toward me. He stopped in an opening and at 17 yards I let an arrow go. The buck ended up expiring quickly and piling up about 50 yards later.  http://s102.photobucket.com/albums/m94/waknstak/?action=view¤t=all163.jpg

Sal, hope you find some time to get after em. Brian looked like you and the rest of the KC boys had a pretty good week yourselves!! I'm donating this one to folks at the local food pantry. I am still gonna hunt some does to give away and do some scouting of new areas for next year.  I guess if the big one walks up I can still take his picture   :(

Daryl, yes shooting them from the ground is a rush. I would do it more but I find that I shoot a lot better from a stand for some reason.
