i did 5 on sunday, here is 3 of them. sorry about the quality, its a cell phone pic. i wasnt sure how they were gonna come out, since ive never done them before. but, overall i was very impressed! i didnt use any chemicals. just boiling water, and a power washer..

i can do a mount from start to finish in less than an hour. i plan on doing all of my bucks like this from now on. as well as my friends bucks. i just think it looks better than a hacksawed off skull plate screwed to a wall..

left is a ny 4 pt.  middle is a mass. 4 1/2 year old 8 pt  and far right is a mass. 6 pt taken this year.      so whatcha think??

I like skull mounts and their price tag. I think they look good when not bleached bright white. A little natural look.

I have several on a nice piece of old barn wood and the guy that does them for me only charges $55 dollars to do them. Lot cheaper than a mount and they look pretty cool.

I am a big fan of european mounts, they just look cool.

You should do a boil along for those that want to preserve a trophy without a big cost I have done several and they look good      :notworthy:

thanks guys. im not much of a woodworker, but i could whip up a nice plaque to screw the skull to. im sure that would look alot better.

i am able to keep the color on the horns because i dont use the bleeching agents. so the horns can touch the water and no harm is done. the presure washer is the key!!

jamie, when we hunt monday i'll take your head then. i should be able to do it pretty quick.

look good but becareful boiling its best to keep at a simmer then degrease.the pressher washer may be alittle hard on the septum also.i do alot of these mounts.if have questions pm me.i am sure guru has done a few  :)  but they look great

Aram

Nice! Really nice!
Do you use bugs? If so where did you get them from?

Deadbolt

dont boil simmer to degreas them.  i have helped many on the board here in doing them and started posting a boil along for everyone but all my posts get deleted so ive stopped helping publicly.  its a shame b/c it was pretty in depth and answered everyones questions.

thank the mods for that

I have done a few this way. They do look way better than a hacked up skull plate. The key is to stay up wind yuck what a nasty smell.

Don Stokes

I hang them in a tree for a year or two, but watch out for squirrels!
