Great Plains LB vs. 3 Rivers Tomahawk LB

I know both bows are built by the same bowyer, but are there any differences in the two bows?

Yes, both are different. And Bill has been designing and building his longbows since the late 1980's.

I own 3 Great Plains longbows and 3 Tomahawk longbows...  they are two different bows and both good shooters in their own respects.  Handles are similar IMO but not the identical and the limb designs are different plus the amount of back set is much different.  Great Plains have a longer slimmer limb with less reflex/deflex were the Tomahawk is a shorter design with greater reflex/deflex in the limb.  My GP bows are 66/64"while the Tomahawks are 62".

My T-hawk was really loud. Never could get it quiet. Bill makes awsome bows. His recurves are really nice shooters, and I don't like recurves at all.

I have a Great Plains yew longbow, 68".  A very nice bow.  If I wanted a 64" bow, I could go with either.  One difference, Bill's bows, all yew, bamboo, osage ect.  More options in wood.

Tomahawks can be ordered in differenet wood options too.  None of my Tomahawks are made in the "standard" wood combinations.  All have been custom ordered in various combinations.  I had one made with a combination of maple/bamboo cores with walnut veneers.  One has a rosewood riser with walnut veneers.  Some have action bamboo cores others with just tonkin cane cores.  I've specified the woods in all of the them.  They can be ordered like any custom bow, just have to wait for them to be made. dino

The GP longbow has a thicker narrower limb design and maintains a true D shape when strung.  Nothing wrong with either a GP or Tomahawk.
