Wow thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I didn't expect so many responses! I have a feeling this is going to become very addicting (same as my rifles, revolvers, bass fishing gear and Bark River knives). Guess I have one more thing contending for my paycheck now!   :D

blind one  - I'm located in Bloomington right now, but get down around the Springfield area often (still have family down in that area) and also down further south around Breese (wife's family is down there). I hunt Pike Country however. So I cover a good portion of the state.

Welcome and my advice would be to buy a cheaper bow to start out with and you will figure out what you like.

I just moved my cousin from Hudson to Mackinaw. You arent that far from me. Its about an hour is all. If you need any help let me know. I'm always up for a road cruise over that way. I'm still trying to figure this all out myself but between the 2 of us we should be able to get you close  :D  .....Roy

1). Start with a reasonably low bow weight.

2). Keep equipment very basic.

3). Have fun!
That is some darn good advice right there.  I can add try not to get discouraged if it doesnt fall into place right away, it takes time, practice and patience.

Welcome
