«

Been shootin my narrow handled L/B's the last few weeks, feather's cuttin my hand pretty good, I've always shot LW feathers with no problems at all from Curves & Hybrid Style L/B's but with these OUCH !! Does help turning the nocks with Cock up or in but still catches my hand a little, is it worth it, before I go buy a RW Clamp for my Bitz & a Bunch of RW Feathers or do ya think I'll still get cut some ... Thanks Again ...

That's the only reason I've ever found to shoot one wing over another. For a left handed archer, shooting right wing feathers should eliminate that problem.

I always trim the end of the fletch with a razor knife to a smooth taper. Leaving a die cut feaher glued on sqare ended is asking to have the feather torn off and your hand cut.
Are your fletches trimmed and then covered with a drop of glue??
If so, you should have no problem with L or R wing feathers.

I think rt wing may well solve your problem. I'm right handed and shoot left wing, only time I had the same problem was when trying to shoot right wing. As long as your getting good fletching clearance on your bow, and you should, arrow flight should be great.

string nock could be just a tad low.it only takes very small increment of adjustment to take care of the problem and still maintain good arrow flight.robert

I shoot lefty with 5" LW feathers out of all my bows including longbows, never had a problem shooting of a leather shelf. Guess I am lucky or have smaller hands than you.
FWIW. I fletch all my arrows with 60-120 4 feather with a fair amount of helical. Always with a drop of glue front and back ends of feather but have never trimmed down the quill on the leading end.
Just a thought, could this be a form issue?

You might want to try right wing. A lower profile feather might help too.

Adam as others have said, I'd recommend going with RW. I have small hands, but ran into this same problem before getting myself a RW Clamp for my fletcher.

When I made wood arrows where I couldn't rotate the nocks like on carbons.I used RW feathers for my buddy,he is LH it would give him the best clearence.I used LW for myself,I am RH.But I also used a TM nock reciever for fletching RW feather which would fletch the cock feather straight up.But on aluminum with glue on nocks I would just shoot cock feather in when I was shooting RW feathers.Try shooting cock feather in.

Move your nock up a little at a time and it should take care of it just like twotimer said.

There is good reason, that the old Wood bow shooters, that shot over the hand, recomended the opposite feather from the draw.

It hasn't happened often, but the few times I've cut myself have been with LW feathers. Shooting with the cock feather in seems to help the problem with the few remaining LW arrows I have.
