Bernie, If that bear gets the best of ya, I call first dibs on your hat   :D

ber643

Gee, I hate to break this to you but (surprisingly) there are quite a few ahead of you on those particular dibs - but thanks for wanting it, in any case   ;)

For those who were following this thread (and others who may), I want all to know there is no doubt in my mind that Don is doing everything possible (and more) to accomplish his (and my)goal. To date there is nothing to report (of real note) except good times, compainionship, and hunts (plus some dampness - LOL). However, I did see some (3) Deer the last time out (up close and personal) and I have every confidence it is just a matter of time now before a good report will be forthcoming.

Heck, if that bear gets as close to you as it did that camera, there'll be "dampness" alright!
(I'd bring some extra britches).   ;)

Had another nice siteing/hunt Mon. AM of this week, at Don's place. Had a very nice Doe come out 15 minutes before shooting time and stay untill 15 minutes after start time. 30 full minutes in front of me,up close and personal, and I never got busted. Had a great time watching her but she never would give me a broadside view/shot before finally moving on (or is that off?).

Just to show how much help Don and his fine family are, when I came out of the woods I found this note under my windshield wiper, from Don's wife:

"Bernie, if you need help with a deer, call me at (number). Phillip is in the house sleeping and I will wake him up, Trish"

Don wasn't going to be available that day, and though I didn't happen to need help that time, it sure made my heart smile. Thanks, Battens!

Gonna try again tomorrow AM, if all goes well.

Alright Bernie,where's the beef?  :biglaugh:

Bernie at least you are seeing some.I have only had one deer in shot distance this whole season. Can't seem to break in the selfbow.    It is a good thing we got a long season.  :biglaugh:
....Quality deer management means shooting them before they get tough....

Get em' Bernie!!!  I was worried cause I hadn't seen you on here and I've been away for awhile. I just had a big sigh of relief when I found this thread.  I still got the turkey call you made me displayed on my bow rack.  Good luck buddy, hope you get a deer and a bear!!!

God Bless
Chasing my kids and my degree for now but come next fall the critters better look out.  ;)

I don't think ole Garden Gnome Bernie worries about clean britches.... I think he packs things he can "depend" on.

Hey ya ole stinker! You been quiet lately on and off site. Good to see ya up to no good.

Keep the reports coming. I wanna see some critter blood...forget what it looks like myself!  :biglaugh:    :jumper:

Don, it's great that you are looking out for Bernie. Us senior citizen bowhunters can be intimidated by the thought of finding a deer that's down, dragging it out, and then having to process it.

I believe that there are several ways to develop participation and support for our sport. One of these is working with youth to educate them, and another is working with those who either don't have a lot of time, or a place to hunt, or who may not have the stamina to harvest and process.

Good luck!
