Another newbie shaft question

I just traded for a Black Widow PSA III 60",50#@28" and I draw right at 28".
My question is this bow had a dozen uncut full length CX Heritage 250 shafts with it that had already been fletched with 3-5" feathers,standard factory nocks but no inserts installed yet.Will these arrows work O.K. with thses bow and if so what weight insert/point should be used?

They may work, but leave them full length and put in some 100 grn inserts. 150's would be a better choice.

So If I leave them full length,use a 100 grain brass insert and what grain broadhead /field point?
The guy I traded with included some 100 grain inserts and some 100 & 150 grain points and broadheads.

the size and weight of your point/broadhead is usually unique to each individual. it will depend on actual weight, draw length, rest, offset, brace height, and bow grip. in other words it is through trial and error. once you get the shaft spine close and insert weight close (which badgerarrow got you close) it is a matter of getting a few points and broadheads and shoot them all. have fun and decide what shoots best for you. that's what makes stick bows fun. and if you end up with a box full of extras welcome to the crowd.

Get some 100gr inserts and a field point test kit from 3 Rivers. Peal the feathers off one of the CX250s. You can use just a little hot melt glue to keep the inserts from falling out while testing. I like the bare shaft planning method O.L. Adcock recomends at http://bowmaker.net.

Even though the Widow is cut past center I'd imagine you'll have to leave the CX250s long and use about 250 total point weight. Let us know how it works out.

Thanks for all the input & advice.

I thought about selling these 250s and getting some 150s but I might experiment with these uncut with a 100 gr. insert and order a test kit to determine what point weight works best.

I already stripped one of the shafts to use like recommended.I am going to tinker with it and see what I can do and can always order more shafts later if these won't work out.It will be fun anyway.
