LE, George, Slowbouke, & others; your generosity amazes me! The best!

Trad is 60% mental & about 40% mental.

I would also like to announce that I have received a PM for one of my bows. The Ancient Spirits Thunderhawk is being shipped tomorrow. (See Maxflight, my office computer)

The initial contact come across as sincere and I suggested he call me. The conversation tonight convinced me to "Pass it on". There ain't a snowball's chance that this bow would have been taken off the shelf any time soon so, even if I lose this bow, which I seriously doubt, to provide the opportunity for someone to share my passion is worth it.

Thanks LE for starting this thread

I think it is wonderful what you guys are doing, truly! Loaning out equipment to help others in time of need, you guys have allot more faith in your fellow man than I! It really dose convince me that good folks are still out there.

That's why I really don't want to do this but, what kind of a hunter gives up his only means of putting meat on the table!?! If I lost everything the last thing I would do is take away my last chance to provide food for the family by selling my hunting weapon, for me a bow! I don't know about other states but my income was low enough for several years I got all my licences for $5.00! Maybe it's different in other states but in Alaska and the upper peninsula of Michigan if you have a bow or fishing pole you have food! If not your living under a tarp in the woods and starving.
Just this Alaskan's opinion

Rick, Not everyoe lives in an area where you can hunt and put meat on the table.I do get a turkey every year.Luckey to see a few deer in my stand.Licences are around $100 for archery and fishing.I would rather sell something that gives me enjoyment then to see my young son go without.
I think These guys are great for doing this.

Just a New hampsire opinion

Update: The Thunderhawk has arrived safely at it's new temporary home and is already being "tuned" to it's new shooter.

I still have a 62" #45 @ 28" longbow, reflex/deflex limbs made with gray actionwood that is available to a "good home" for the season. If anyone is interested or knows of someone deserving, PM me.

Great deal. I just lucked out and my uncle ended up giving me a longbow while I was on vacation, or I might have taken somebody up on this.

Once again, good job.

Chester
Ask me about CTO.

George D. Stout

Guys....if you're interested in the Maple Monster, just let me know. Anonymity is guaranteed.

Rick....I don't worry about someone stealing a bow from me.  I take that chance knowing that 99 out of every 100 guys are honest.  Furthermore, I may even ask them to keep it.  I made the thing and it served me for many years, and someone may think it's a real beauty....I know it shoots darned good.  I won't lose a thing if I get burned, but someone may not get a chance to hunt and supply some feed for his family if I don't offer the chance.  My goods are easily replaceable, and my state doesn't care whether I am rich or destitute.

Maxflight

My sentiments exactly George. If something I lend doesn't come back to me, my only hope is that, eventually, it will find it's way to someone who needs and appreciates it.

Guys with the current administration and all of the resulting growth in un-employment !!

I agree that this may indeed, become an "Annual Tradition" for me at least. I must say, that in my case everything worked out very well.... I'm going to try and have some more loaners again for next season.  If it looks like there is a need feel free to contact me thru PM's here on TG [will be kept confidental].  I'll do what I can to help.   :wavey:

Wow...you guys are absolutely awesome. I think I actually may be a candidate for this if you guys are willing.  I'm a 21 year old college student, and I work in a Lumberyard part time.

I know I'm a newbie on here, but I do frequent a few other forums.  Just got into trad hunting and have been looking for a bow.  I have some aluminums that I fletched up with some 5" feathers, but I can't find a bow yet.  I'm 6'5", so I need a fairly long, lighter weight bow since I'm just getting into all this.

I've shot with training wheels for the last 4 years, so I've been told that a recurve is definitely the way to go.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I would be happy to pay shipping if one of you guys is feeling extremely generous.  I promise you won't regret it. Also, I may be able to take ya out hunting here in SW IL if you'd like to make the trip out there during the season.

Thanks in advance,  Jeremy

Gene,

I know a guy whose wife has been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. He is having a rough go with taking care of his wife, kid and job. He could use a loaner. He is a big guy and can handle a heavy bow. He would take care of it and give it back.

My wife is a Cancer Survivor so, my thing is to help husbands deal with the "caretaker" role. The Husbands are often forgotten in the fray. All the attention goes onto the wife and the Husband is just supposed to carry forth. It tends to lend them to do a lot of drinking. I did!

Anyway, I would throw my buddy's name in the basket.

This is an amazing place - I could give up some arrows if we get a poundage I can go through my stash and see what might work for it.

have a few spare gloves and tabs too and broadheads.

There is no "basket".... what you and your buddy need to do is look at the entire bunch of posts here... There are several guys who have joined in on this offer to help a "Brother or Sister" trad shooter who has, during these hard economic times, had to sacrifice their hunting equiptment to pay bills and put food on the table for their families.

Your friend certainly seems to "fit the bill".  What you two need to do... is look at the list of equiptment available from the various guys on this post. Contact them by PM, to keep everything "confidental"... we will in turn do our best to help.    :wavey:

Gene,

Thanks for spelling out how this Loan should work. It was helpful to me and anyone else that wishes to accept your generous offer or the offers by others.

Thank you!
