"Once apon a Tine....50 years of being in the right spot at the right time"

Barry Wensel

We have a WINNER!!! After all the tabulations and heated discussions the votes were counted. I initially intended to have an original Andrew Warrington drawing of my biggest buck on the book cover. Because the book will be about hunting and not necessarily me, I didn't want to put my mug on the cover. The general concensus of opinion is many folks associate me with my crooked hat, even though I've not strictly worn it the last several years. I personally thought it was somewhat egotistical to put myself on the cover, but the "board" opinion is the crooked hat symbolizes pure Barry Wensel. Therefore, I'm using a 1985 photo of myself and my crooked hat for the cover. The title, "Once Upon A Tine" will be subtitled, "The Crooked Hat Chronicles". The winner is Kevin Winkler, Monroe, Wisc. He'll be awarded the #3 book out of the 100 Limited Edition copies. Kevin.. you need to forward me your contact info. I'd like to thank everyone for the thought you all put into this. I really appreciate your time and efforts. It was fun. Crooked hats off to you all! Thanks. BW

Congrats Kevin.  Some entertaining answers on here.

I think that is an EXCELLENT choice UB.

That must be a picture of you staring majestically into the distance deep in thought about your next move...

Wish we had one of those mooning gremlins like the PBS board does   :p  .

Your avatar of the bear hug is a good one too.

Barry Wensel

That avatar is not a bear hug. It's a UFC wrestling move called the "near naked choke". If you don't keep away from his claws you'll be near naked. bw

Gatekeeper

Congratulations Kevin! Good luck with the book Barry.

That will be a great title!  Barry, how could you think of not including your crooked hat?  It's your trademark?  You know...so the deer think you are looking the other way!!!

My new wife and I were watching brothers of the bow a few days ago. I can't grow a full beard, but I told her that if I could, I would have one just like yours Barry.  She told me that would be fine by her, because she thought you were "cute"!  Barry Wensel.....big buck killer....lady killer!

Barry Wensel

Jon: She told me the same thing! :^) UB

Killdeer

If the book is half as much fun to read as this thread was, I may have to chase the moths out of my wallet and find my credit card.   :D

Congrats on finding (one of the) perfect subtitle(s)! Good one, Kevin!
Killdeer   :clapper:
Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.
