help with set up my Bob Lee
« on: July 23, 2009, 10:42:00 AM »
I needs some help I just got my bow back from Bob Lee, Rob rebuilt for and made a new set of limbs there are 46@28 I am shooting Easton Axis 500 at 29.5 with 100 gr brass inserts and 165 gr point my brace hight 7 1/2 my bare shaft is hit low right I know I will have to move my nocking point down. Now for the right impact is this because I need to build up the side plate or is it because of the size diameter of the my shaft or is it truly a week shaft.Blake

Move your nock point before working on spine.

If you are rt handed and hitting rt, your arrow is weak. Try going down on point weight.

Mine seems to like the higher brace to 8 1/8.

I've got a 48@28 Bob Lee and any 500 class arrow with a 100gr insert plus point would be too weak for me to shoot.

Try a 100 or 125 grain point and see what that looks like.

I brought my Brace height to 8" and that took care of the weak spine, Mike what arrow are you shooting and how long are your arrows.Blake

Blake,
I'm currently shooting a 29.25" 2114 alum. with 125grain points.  I'll probably move up to a 2018 or 2115 and a heavier point soon in preparation for hunting season.

I have tried Easton Carbonaeros, Beeman Hawk and Beeman Black Max MFX.  The Carbonaeros and Hawk shafts shoot good cut to 29.5" using the regular insert and 175gr points.  I never could get the MFX shafts to fly right but I didn't give them much of a chance.  I think they would be a real good hunting arrow...good weight and small diameter.

Just measured the brace height on my bow...a hair over 7.5".
