Well said Wallcrawler. There are many new options for herniated disks. My mothers orthopedic surgeon presented us a few options, everything from physical therapy, pain killers, massage therapy, minor procedures and full blown surgery. One thing really helped me when I had lower back pain due to a partially herniated disk was yoga. The yoga exersizes allowed me to slowly strech my back and allowed me to develop better flexibility and strength that physical therapy couldn't do.

Thank you all for the responses and advice.  I will make my final decision after I see the doctor on Monday.  I have until August 1st. to get 90% of my money back for the license.  I have turned my compound down to 52lbs and I can pull that with ease and no discomfort.  I would just stay home but the other 3 guys are counting on me to drive and split gas with.  I will give an update when I see the Doc.  Thanks again everyone.

Sean-

Its been awhile, sorry to hear about your condition.  If it were me, I would do as many here have said, and drop 10 or so pounds.  Use a good heavy arrow, and you wont miss the extra poundage.  Good luck bud.

WallCrawler - a couple of years ago I would have said you were full of it, but not any more.  20 years ago I had a herniated disk that had ruptured in my lower back. It was an old injury from college days. A local chiro did his thing and about 6 months later I ended up having to have back surgery.

A couple years ago I developed some neck and upper back problems. For whatever reason I went to a Chiro here, different place and time, and it really help. Total different techniques. It appears that chiropractic techniques have changed quite a bit over the years.

As said, you to medical professionals and get a treatment plan. As important as something like this is I'd also get more than one opinion.

As an aside, like Don, pulling a compound also causes more problems and pain on my shoulders, arms and upper back - neck area than my traditional bows.
