found a youtube video showing super slow motion footage of arrows being shot out of a trad bow.

I thought it was especially interesting starting about 27 seconds into it (about the 3rd or 4th shot) you can see the fur string silencer.

Watch that thing!  It folds all around to one side like a flag AND you can see it rotate several turns one way the the other way!  Must be that a flemish twist string winds and unwinds during the shot?  Never would have thought that.  Don't know if it's from roling off the fingers or from the increase/decrease in tension during the shot.  I'd imagine it's from the finger roll but don't know.

I've come to believe that the keys to shooting well for me are good form, trusting the bow to do all the work, and having the confidence in the bow and myself to remain motionless and relaxed at release until the arrow hits the mark.

Really????

Guess me not hanging out here every day for an hour or more like I used to is showing eh?

Sorry for the repetition.

Did anyone on the previous 9 times notice the string silencers?  I thought that was interesting anyway...

Thanks for sharing Dave, I didn't catch the other posts on this vid, so i'm glad you did it!!   very cool stuff!!  I too think that it's the string roll off the fingers that causes the string silencers to flap like a flag off to the side!! jim

That was really cool. There was a tremendous amount of work putting together that video.

I've seen it before as well, but I never grow tired of watching it.   So much occurs in life the we never see because it happens to fast for it to register.

Cool video. The song is "Prologue", by Loreena McKennitt. It's on the CD "Book of Secrets", FWIW.

Very, very neat.  I had never seen it posted any of the previous times, and it is really educational... AND artistic!

I guess this is what is really going on whe we see our bows with carefully selected arrows "shooting like darts"!!

Thank you, Dave.

Molson, that bowfishing video was better than the paradox one!

I've gotta try that this year.

Seen a bunch but not these. Outstanding. Hard to imagine an arrow overcoming that much inertia and deflection.

I had seen this video before, a while back, on youtube but I still enjoyed seeing it again. I think the music is perfect for it. It's amazing how much the arrow bends, and rotates, too.

That's unreal, here's a still from the vid.

Ray Hammond

thats a definite "UNDERSPINED" shaft for whatever bow its launching from!

I also saw a massive torquing of the bow upon release in one of those shots...

Easton had done one quite a while ago with all types of equipment and it was more technical but just as illuminating...I received a copy through my role in IBEP as a Master Instructor.

Thanks for sharing it, Dave. I had not seen it before either.

Good video Thanks Dave.
Looks like he has his bow hand wrapped with something. Maybe he was thinking the arrow might break.
