I am think about these shafts to start out with.  What do you guys think of them?  Also I will be getting raw shafting so I need some pointers or tips on fletching and intalling inserts ie: what do you use to install these with aluminums? Thanks in advance.

Those shafts will work very well. I think they're fine but my favorite is the Easton Legacy. It's just a personal preference, 'cause I think the only difference is in the finish.

I use a JoJan fletcher and like it very well. I also use Bohning fletching tape to attach the fletching. Be sure to use acetone or denatured alcohol to clean the shafts before applying the feathers. I also apply it to the quill on the feather.

Now the nocks. Personally, I use snap-on nocks on my aluminim arrows. Also, I don't glue them on but push them onto the arrow while I turn them clockwise at the same time. But, as a beginner you may want to use fletchtite glue to install the nocks AFTER you fletch them so you can turn them the way you want to so you can get the ultimate clearance when shooting them out of your bow.

I use 'em a lot. It is good to have a reasonably priced, straight and consistent shaft for everyday shooting. If I bend one up, I can get another just like it. These are my workhorses.

I use a non-snap nock (Speed nock or Classic), and glue them on with Duco. Good advice about cleaning the shaft with alcohol.

I use hot-melt glue for the inserts. Fletch tape is good stuff, and makes short work of fletching jobs. I am a little nervous about how it handles really hot places, but you are from Canada, not Florida. I use Bitzenburger jigs.

Getting aluminums from raw shafting to arrows is about the quickest way to set about shooting your own stuff!

We love Aluminum shafts at my house. Where did you order yours from? I'm having trouble finding the shafts I need.

There are plenty of tutorials here in the How To forums that explain how to build arrows from aluminum shafts.

XX75's have been a solid dependable arrow for longer than I can remember. Just a darn good arrow!!!
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

Thanks guys I guess that pretty much sells it then.  When I get my bow I'll be picking some of these up.  Doug I believe that these come with the uni-nocks, so I can adjust the nock ultimately.  But I would have to glue in the bushing. Recurve I haven't gotten any yet. I use a Bitz jig.  Will Isopropyl alcohol work for cleaning everything?  Thanks a lot guys.

Curtis, use Comet or any other similar cleaner. Cheap, and works great as a degreaser.

I have read NOT to use isopropyl alcohol with arrow wraps but I'm not sure without using wraps. I think the isopropyl might leave a residue behind.

Night Wing

I've used Easton XX75 arrows for over 43 years. Great arrows. I fletch my arrows with a JoJan fletcher with right wing clamps. I use 5" feathers and fletch them with glue.

I use the really pure alcohol from the pharmacy about 8 bucks a bottle but it will last a long time.

david_lewis93

denatured  alcohol  from the paint store or pure acetone ,watch the acetone, it will remove the finish to bare metal.

Mo. Huntin

Denatured alcohol thats it yep thats what I use.
