How much can I expect a D97 string to stretch?  I have some D97 and just found my old string jig while cleaning the basement.  Thought I might give it a try.  Where in the string do you normally put the knot?  Thanks!

don't know how much D97 creeps. find the loop length you want. then centre that distance between the posts of the jig but make sure the knot is 1/4" outside of the loop end you marked when you centred the loop. now serve the loop as normal but start outside the knot and serve over it, keep serving, turn the posts get the right loop length and keep serving down the string. this way you will have served over the knot twice.

I've never tied a knot in an endless loop string.  Just cut the beginning and ending tags flush with the loop servings before bringing them together to form the loop.

D-97 doesn't creep much at all, practically nothing.

It's been many years since I made an endless string, but I'm sure I can figure it out again.    :notworthy:

Rick,

1) No knot required. The tag ends get served under the loop and cinch up before they're cut off the "goal posts."

There's a great tutorial in the how-to section with photos that explain it better than I could in writing.

2) When I make an endless Dyna97 string, the string will basically be stretched in after the first few shots. The brace height might drop 1/8" at most.

Thanks Jason.  I looked up the tutorial; GREAT STUFF!!    :readit:    :knothead:
