Bareshafting some new shafts

Just made up some arrows that are 80#85# fir shafts. I am shooting them out of a 55#@28" recurve cut to center. I cut the shafts to 29.5" bop and tried some 160gr. tips. At 20yds they hit a foot right (I am righthanded). They dove right at the last 6ft. So thinking they were too weak I put some 145gr. tips on them. Not as bad, but still dove right about 6". I cut them down to 29"bop and still get the same results. Why is this?  The fletched arrows fly good, but hit a little left! Are the bareshafts actually showing stiff by hitting the riser and kicking to the right?

I'll second that opinion. I know that some folks shoot spines that heavy from bows cut past center. I have never seen the need for a spine much more than 10# past bow draw weight on cut to center recurves.
Do you have any shafts left that are full length to test with?
Also form and release are critical bare shafting.

I don't even use a fletched arrow until I get the bare shafts close to where they should be.  Mark

Over stiff shafts shows weak, not stiff and I'd bet this was the case. Cutting you made the problem worse. Never cut until you verify with point weight! If you can't make them shoot stiff with lower point weights, that means you are going the wrong direction. I've gone so far as to shoot shafts without points at all in an effort to make them shoot stiff. Glue the part you cut off back on or break out the really heavy points now that they are shorter!   ....O.L.

Mostly good advise OL!    I think I'll stay away from the glue and try 190gr. tips first. But probably will end up tapering couple of the other shafts at 31" and then start from there. In the past I have been able to cut down to 29.5" and get good results at that spine weight with this bow...? A little too eager to get to shooting I guess! Thanks guys.
