Am I correct in thinking that the PMA's, PSA's, PTF's, etc. versus MA's, SA's, etc. are post-CNC versus pre-CNC???  The "P" stands for "precision crafted" according to the catalog...  What year did BW go to CNC risers?

This is NOT a CNC better/worse thread.  I personally like the idea of CNC'd risers for limb interchangeability without custom fitting.  To each his own opinion.

Just want to know for sure in case a particular classified ad catches me eye...

yep, p is for precision. Not sure when they started.

All models did not change the same year. I think the earliest was 2003. The latest was 2005 I think.

So... safe to say any PSA or PMA will take any post-05 limbs without fitting?

Yes that would be a safe bet. However, I'm assumning you realize that you can not use PSA and PMA limbs interchangably, as the risers take different limbs.

I just picked up a set of limbs that B/W drilled to fit either riser, SA or MA, on the Ma riser there were two pieces added to make up for the gap on the MA riser, unfortunately the extra pieces were lost. But I use them on my PSA riser anyway.

I had my son an SA built in 2007, not a PSA.

Whats the differance? I had it made without the "P"henolic.

Larry, are the bows much lighter without the phenolic?

I can tell a differance. I ordered a new PMA in 07 and when i got it out of the box i noticed it was heavier than i remembered. It had been a while since i ordered a new one, and i could tell a differance.

The P does not stand for phenolic, it stand for percision as it has to do with the CNC machining of the bows. Most of todays big name bowyers use CNC machines. Shawn
