Did I miss what type of hunt you wanted. Stalk or blind because that can make a difference here in WY as to were I would apply. There are areas full of goats but flat as a table top with nothing taller then your ankles to hide behind. And waiting for lopes to move into just the right stalking terrain in these flat areas can waste most of a hunt. Just saying stalk hunts are plausable in some areas but not in others. And blinds are great but you have to find water and hope someone else isnt there already (tropy areas worse than others). If you can get to your area a day or two before the hunt find water and set up you are better off. But putting up a blind and hunting the same day works as well. In the area we hunted this year a lot of the normal water was dry. We moved to the goats and took 5 with bows. Water and terrian will be the difference in a chance at a goat and "chasing farts in a hurricane".

I would like to try a blind style hunt first. I have never been to Wyoming, so I'll need all the help and luck I can get.

Jack makes a good point. If you are going with blinds on waterholes, you need to get there a couple of days ahead if possible, both to find the water that they are using, and to set the blind and let the goats get accustomed to it. Pit blinds also are a good way to go. Pick the hottest time you can if you are going to hunt waterholes. Of course, when you get everything set, a monster thunderstorm comes along and leaves water everywhere    .

Blind hunting over water very do-able. Some more suggestions. There are areas of WY that G&F will show 1000 tags, however look at the ratio of private land to public. BLM maps best source. 1000 tags in an area with 75% or more private lands is a farce. You will be lucky to get permission without paying, it is possible but I wounldnt depend on that for an out-of-state hunt. Look to areas with a lot of public (BLM) lands. Also dont hunt checker board areas they are as useless as private. These areas have a section of BLM and then section of private. When you see a BLM map you will know what I am taking about. There is a lot of room in WY, and lot of antelope. I forget the name but there is a company that offers a state map in one easy to carry book like a atlas. It shows private, BLM, national forest and what have you. Its detail is not very good but it can help you decide on an area and then you can get detail maps from the BLM office or off the web. DBerrard,you need a US Forest Service map for that.It will show State,BLM,National forest as well.They also have information about areas of restricted vehicle travel etc.They are a must in this country.Here we can walk into the US Forest Service office and buy one.You may be able to order on line or get one through your local office.

Here are 2 shots from 1981....Guide and I digging a pit blind and then a pic of me inside the blind, 15 yd shot to waterhole. Very effective because there were no Windmills in this area we hunted. Pit was very comfy, we made a large area to sit with back rest. Just had to check every morning for Prarie Rattlers inside. Took a P&Y "Goat" from this spot....

In Montana if you get the 900 archery license you can hunt anywhere in the state that has an antelope season. You are not restricted to any one area. Also I think the odds are real good for getting the 900 license.

Regarding blinds, IF there are cattle in the area, leaving them set up for days is not a good idea. Cattle will rub against them scratching and will absolutely destroy your blind.  I've heard of guys that have actually installed a portable electric fence around the blind to prevent this from happening.

Kansas Nonresident Archery Antelope permits are $202.50 OTC, Nonresident hunting license is $72.50.
and western Kansas is covered in WIHAs(WALK IN HUNTING AREA). You would have to wait until next year though the seasons run in Sept. and Oct.

Any thoughts on the Medicine Bow NF, Veduvoo area between Laramie and Cheyenne? It's just a short drive from where I live.
