Here I sit in my ergonomically adjustable chair on the 26th floor of the Ren Cen looking down at Jefferson Ave. instead instead of on a hard tree stand seat looking out over the Michigan woods.  This is only about the 3rd opening day I've missed in 20 years.  I'll be in the 'Thumb' on Friday though.  Can't wait.  Good Luck and Be Safe everyone.

I hear ya Howard!!  I am sitting here at my desk looking out the window just wishing I was out there bow in hand chasing some of those tasty Michigan white-tails!!

Haha I'm sitting in my office in Farmington Hills.  I managed to sneak out at lunch and walk around out complex a few times.   Even though I'm not in the woods, I can feel the electricity in the air.

A few weeks ago I did see a doe just a few yards from my door.   That was pretty sweet.  I've never seen that here before.

Well, I'm also sitting in my office looking out at the wind and slight rain, but my office is only 7 miles from home- and home is in the sticks.
So- basically- I'm leaving work early- like in 10 minutes, and once I shower and prep, I'll be sitting high in the hardwoods within the hour...

Man buddy those are some nice looking deer.  Any luck spotting one of those bad boys tonight?

Well I made it out tonight and boy did it feel good. I didnt get a chance to do much pre season scouting so I thought tonight I would just do a walk about / still hunt. I was just taking my time enjoying the sights and sounds. I would walk when the wind blew and stand and watch while it was calm. After about an hour and only making it about 1/4 mile from the truck I decided to lean up against a tree in a well traveled area just to see what was moving through. I wasnt there more than 5 minuets when a small spike popped out. He was probably around 40 yards away but was on my down wind side. One big gust of wind and he froze in his tracks. The stand off had begun. After what seemed like an eternity he just turned and walked out of my life. No flag and not even a run just like he decided he would rather go the other way.

No success story from last night, other than it was nice to be out in the woods....the wind was blowing and then spats of rain, but the only movement was from 7 different squirrels, and a small flock of turkeys in my wheat plot.
Next chance out will be tomorrow night, have football practice and have to run the chains for our JV game at home.

Great morning to be in the woods, other then the constant wind changes. Passed on a Doe as she was nervous and I didn't get a real good angle. So rather than chance it, I passed.

Afternoon didn't see much but squirrels, and a few turkeys.  Put a nice stalk on Jake on my way up for lunch...he's lucky he only has a few days left of being safe!

Night, got up in trees and saw a few deer...due to farmers are starting to open the corn fields to let the air in. Nothing close.

The weather was a good start for archery opener, I like hunting in the cool temps instead of roasting!
