There ain't a horse that can't be rode
and there ain't a cowboy that ain't been throwed.

Get back on that horse cowboy.

Awh get use to it   :bigsmyl:   ,, It's not terminal, As others have said there is no shame in a clean miss. Actually a lot of the misses will be remembered long after many of the hits are forgotten
Many have died for my freedom.
One has died for my soul.

That's the second best place to hit em. Hang in there and follow through next time.

I am left eye dominant and right handed. I can miss two feet to the left with the best of them.

LKH

Man, if I had gotten sick every time I missed I'd be dead by now.  I once shot four arrows within about 40 seconds at three different 6x6 bulls in a group of 14-15 all chasing one cow.  I don't think I even scared any of them.

I never let missed bother me.  Well, almost never.

Hey don't feel bad it happens to all of us, thats why we love it.  hunting and target shooting are 2 all together different things. First year i hunted with a recurve bow I practiced all the time and could shoot good first deer i saw was standing about 10 yards away i shoot and miss 4 times all my arrows missed and the deer was still standing there looking at me, and i still miss what i would call easy shots once in a while,  You'll get him next time good luck.

Bonebuster

Like Charlie said, "ain`t it a rush"!

It`s just one more step towards success.

If you missed my two and a half feet at ten yards,
then you did something really drastic.

All of your diligent practice builds your confidence. You KNOW you can make the shot.

Use bright fletching so you can see the impact point, and don`t let the worry of a miss cloud the concentration of what you need to do.

Resharpen that broadhead, and try again.

Most of us could tell you stories that mirror what you did. It`s bowhunting, and it`s great.

Stone Knife

I missed so many deer my first year hunting with Trad gear it wasn't funny. I can tell you one thing to miss is a mystery to hit is history, it's better to miss than wound an animal without recovery.
Proverbs 12:27
The lazy do not roast any game,
but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt.

Been there, done that.  Expect I'll do it again, too.  I still agonize over stupid simple misses.  It's all part of trad bowhunting.  Now git out there and HUNT!

People put way to much pressure on themselves for nothing.

This is the way I look at it.

Will this kill change my life...No

Does my family need this kill to eat...No

Most likely typical for the great majority of hunters, so don't sweat it.
1 Corinthians 1:18

For the word of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us who are saved it is the power of God.

frassettor,
Can you get your hands on a metal detector.. surely it would help you find it...

You are gonna really enjoy your first kill and it will happen soon b/c I can tell you want it bad.Kip

DRR324

like everyone else- been there and done that.  You have been accepted into the traditional bowhunter ranks now.  stick with it.  Try to visualize your fletching dissapearing into the spot you want to hit.  Play the mental tape as you prepare for the shot- then watch as your fletchings really dissapear!! It'll happen.
Good Luck.

"Dad, know what I like most about deer hunting?  The adrenaline rush you get when you know your going to get a shot at one"- my son Tyler after his first miss..

Whip

Sorry to hear about the miss Rick, but like they said, it happens to everyone sometime!  Look on the bright side - there is a long season ahead of us and many great times to spend in the woods.  If you had hit him you would have to spend the rest of the fall doing chores around home!
Just get out there and get after the nest one.  Or the one after that, or the one after that..........

IT"S HUNTING NOT KILLING ! KEEP ON HUNTING YOU"LL GET HIM .IF IT WAS EZ EVERY ONE BE DOING IT. REMEMBER YOUR DOING IT THE HARD WAY. IT FEELS SO GOOD WHEN IT COMES TOGETHER!

BobW

Look at it this way:  you got one to 10 yards, and got a shot off.  You are doing an awful bunch right to get that far.  Now to just close the deal.  Head high!  And get back to it!
