Florida Opener

Well since south Florida deer season opens a week before Georgia, I burnt $150 worth of diesel fuel to go hunt with my fat buddy Marty at his lease.
I saw a 6 point, a 7 and two 8's opening morning. They have an eight point rule in effect and a two buck limit per member. Marty gave me the go ahead since he forgot my birthday last week and was feeling guilty about it, but I didn't want to use one of his buck tags unless a gagger walked by. (Not likely to happen that close to the Everglades)

I did manage a doe in the morning hunt and a eatin sow in the evening. It was a good chance to try some changes I made this year. One; the Muzzy Phantoms performed well. The doe was a 20 yard shot, recovery was 25 yards. The pig was a 15 yard shot, recovery was 30 yards. Both had devastating wounds and both thru the shoulders. Complete pass thru's. I'm pleased with that.


Also tried my Swamp Rooter bow. I've used it before but sent it back to Joey Buchanan for a riser modification. Now I think my prettiest bow is also gonna be my deadliest.

My only decision now is, venison or pork for supper?  HHmmmmmm...

Dang buddy I almost didn't recognize you. Doesn't Marty feed you when you go hunt with him. Lookin like you might be gettin thin. Oh well, you have some sausage fixins that'll end the food shortage around your section of Marty's.  :D

Nice shots. And thanks for the input on the phantoms....I have been wondering which BH I want t use.
My brother keeps trying to get me down to Destin to hunt....might have to after reading this thread. I have only fished when I go there...
