Mo bow season starts sept 15, over the counter!

Colorado has over the counter elk tags.  Idaho has a first come first served type of draw.  Usually, not all are sold so might be able to get an elk tag there as well.  Check out their web sites.

In 2006 I went to SD for mule deer and the tags weren't on a draw system, you could just buy a buck tag and a doe tag straight up (it is good for either mule deer or whitetails). There was a good amount of public land too and a lot of deer. I hope to go back someday.

Washington State.  Elk Opens tomorrow, Deer, bear & cougar are open but you can still buy your tags.

Sorry to hear about the caribou fiasco.  Colorado has OTC tags which leads to lots of hunters but good hunting can be found and even bad hunting is better than no hunting.

Idaho has OTC tags too.  Always my second choice if I don't draw. dino

Kansas still has three units with leftover NR deer tags available; I believe all tags are good in Unit 19 as well....

I dont know anything about MO other than I want to go hunt there someday. I had actually picked out a few places a couple years ago but I forgot where now. I wish you the best of luck. Sorry your caribou hunt got canceled. You never know, might be destiny.  :)

Wisconsin has over the counter tags for deer and in western Wi, unit 1, there are leftover turkey tags as well, all reasonably priced!

The eleven point is a blue ribbon trout stream in Missouri. A lot of pubic land in Mark Twain but the deer are bigger north of the Missouri River.  More agriculture, but more people also.  Still some good areas to hunt up north.

It seems to be undisputed that there are bigger deer in north eastern mo.I found several small tracts of public land but don't see any large ones.Am I missing one?

HB, if you can get hold of a DeLorme Atlas for Missouri, there's tons of State ground in NE and N Central Missouri....and don't forget your turkey tags!     :readit:
