I got to try out several bows at ATAR that I had never handled before.  Surprisingly, one of the best shooting bows I got to play with was a Samick Stingray, a 58" one-piece recurve.  My buddy JDC ended up with a LH model, and another TBSWV member ended up with a RH model - both from Lancaster Archery.  Larry247 picked up the RH model and robin-hooded his first arrow with his second one.  Awesome performance for a $220.00 bow.  Anyone else get their hands on a real shooter bow?

I liked several of the the Black Creek bows that Jim was selling at the Sipsey River tent. Mike-I ended up with one of your 2016's from the practice butts, good finally meeting up with you.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

The best shooting bow I shot was Rod Jenkin's personal bow - an R.E.R. "LX". BUT..a lot of how well a bow shoots to me is due to properly tuned arrows, and his arrows were exactly proper for my draw length.

A bow's grip is the make-or-break part for me - I can tune most any of 'em given the time, but the grip has to be right.

Best grips to me were on the Zipper, Southern Draw, and the R.E.R..

Hey Brittman find fatdonnie in here and pm him he knows Hoots real good. Hoots builds a sweet shooting bow and the price is just as sweet! Back to the best bow to shoot is what ever Don "The Batman" is shooting. I think his bows are designed by nasa or some alien tech.HAHAHA!!!! No I believe Don can shoot a stick with a rubber band for a string and steel rods for arrows! But there is alot of real good bow builders out there, you have to find one you can shoot. I think thats part of the fun of trad shooting because what works for might not work for you not if you like shooting a hoyt gm2.HAHAHA!!!!
its not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog

I personally thought that Samick StringRay was the best bang for the buck there. Lee (Trad-Tech) only had two of them. both 45#s, one RH and one LH. my cousin bought the LH and my friend Shane bought the RH.

good thing is....me and Al still get to shoot'em sometimes.    :archer:

How about some photos? I've never laid eyes on the Stingray.

Gator,

I shot one of Mike's new design bows on Saturday. It was a *sweet* shooting bow and was absolutely dead in your hand. I also shot Mike's (Brittman) Shrew. I, being new to the traditional thing, and not sure I am qualified to comment......felt that the Treadway got the nod....at least for me. I can perhaps foresee....a Treadway in my future.

Dakota by Rick Welch 60" 46@28. I did sneak out about 6am saturday with a tradtech. the first recurve I ever shot with an elevated rest. It was by far the best shooting bow for me that I tried at ATAR except my dear Raquel Welch. Don

I shot a zipper and then placed an order on a new one.Now I wait.   :goldtooth:

Mike Treadway told me his new design can get the same speed as his old design, with 5# less draw weight.  He's REALLY onto something good.

Well for the first time ever I did not shoot a single bow at ATAR I did not bring with me.Saw some nice ones but never saw the right one. :)  I do like the looks of Hoot's bows a lot but have plenty of short bows already.I broght home a couple of DAS bows and the 21" risered one shoots real nice.
