I love it all, but to make a choice as my favorite, I have to pick the beloved whitetail.

From T-shirt weather on October 1st, to arctic cold on January 1st. Treestands, ground blinds, and sneaking around. Lean burger, and tender chops, fried with onions, mushrooms, and a hint of garlic.

A glimpse of antler is nice, but not necessary.

You didn't have an all of the above choice!  ;)

So far it is just Deer, Because Deer is the only game I have hunted most the time. Been doing more small game, But Deer is #1 for now....

I picked deer but if I lived in a state that provided spot and stalk opportunities for hogs I believe my choice would have been different. I also had a hard time choosing between deer and carp (bowfishing).

The most frightening thing you are likely to encounter in nature is yourself.

Hard to say...  Hogs & Javelina are the most fun for me.  But you haven't lived until you have a snorting, snot-slinging bull elk come running in to within mere feet of you while you are shaking in your boots and looking for the shot...  gotta be elk.

I would walk through a feild of P&Y deer without ever shooting an arrow if I thought a group of pigs was on the other side feeding.  :biglaugh:

Hogs, but I haven't been to Africa or Australia. Yet.

I think location and familiarity might skew the results, so the poll becomes mostly more of a tale of where folks hunt most of the time and what's available there to hunt.

No pigs up here in the Nor'East, but they're still my fave!  :D

Easy: The blind, deaf, smell-challenged and very stupid new world record ultra-nontypical bull elk who bugles nonstop just half a mile from where I park my truck, then when I shoot him runs a half mile downhill before he piles up! How could anyone think otherwise?    Dave (PS: Notice how, since I discovered these wonderfully silly 'graemlings' that make whatever we say inoffensive, I try to use a different on each time?)

I was sure deer would be number one due to the fact that deer are everywhere and just way to much fun to hunt with a bow. I also thought Elk would be 2nd, but we do have more time to see what happens with the numbers.

Hogs/javelina and small game are the suprise to me.  I do love the trad gang. Keep the posts coming.

thank you,

I hunted deer all the time on the east cost but since moving out to Washington Elk is my #1 favorite critter to chase with a bow turkey and hogs run a close 2nd.....stabow
The best thing about owning a dog is that someone is happy when you come home.

pronghorn23

I think hogs would be the most fun to hunt, just haven't hunted them yet.

Deer and turkeys are all we have in Illinois so they're the most fun here.

I voted pronghorn because although I've been skunked twice, they're my favorite big game animal and I love the country/scenery  where they are found.

Since they're at the bottom of the list contact me and I'd be happy to help try and take some off your hands while everyone else is busy pursuing their other favorites  :goldtooth:

WidowEater

I like deer hunting as much as the next guy, but small game hunting is a nearly year long proposition.  Generous bag limits plentiful game and challenging.  Deer hunting is the easiest thing in the world compared to small game.

Squirrels!!!   They're conivin'; exasperatin', and just plain ornery.  Nothin' like huntin' squirrels.
