Blackhawk

About five years ago, I heard of this great breeder of fine hunting dogs, so I paid my deposit and ordered one.  I waited and waited, but never got the dog.

I even had a name picked out..."O.L."   :bigsmyl:
Lon Scott

MikeS

I got a beagle pup and named her Feather.  Not really because of archery, but because my son killed his first turkey the same day I picked her up.  I wanted the name to reflect that memorable day, and I think it fits.

DEATHMASTER

I had a GREAT chocolate lab I named after critter getter bow

THE KRITTER GETTER

KRITTER for short

Pick a snappy name that it will not mistake with others.

If you're a knapper I've always thought "Chert" would be a good name for a dog as would "Flint" or "Jasper".
Also I've considered the name "Bow" as I have known many a hound named "Beau"
If it is a female you could go with "Ivara" feminine of "Ivar" which is "Archer" in the language of the Vikings. Or "Yvette" which is old French for "little bow"
It is curious that physical courage should be so common in the world and moral courage so rare. ~Mark Twain

"Broadhead"! or "Fletch"! or "Point"!

Scratch "Fletch" (sounds like fetch and that would be confusing to the dog.)
Also Springers aren't a pointing breed so scratch "Point"

THE VOICES HAVEN'T BOTHERED ME SINCE I STARTED POKING THEM WITH A Q-TIP.

A.S.

Woodsman196 had the same idea as me...."Saxton" is my 12year old yellow lab.

Bonebuster

We named our new Taco Bell dog(can`t spell Chiuaua) Muzzy Phantom, because he was fast and sharp, right out of the box.

I have a twelve year old chocolate lab named Scout.  He has been going downhill pretty quickly; I am afraid he is going to be taking a one-way trip to the vet any day now.

Bob Macioch

"Woody" as in Gene Wensel's great deer
       as in Wood arrows
       as in the Wensel Woodsman
or just the Woods that we love so much

Best of luck with the pup.
Bob
Hunt for you! Dont worry what others will say,if your happy with what you shoot who really cares what anyone else thinks. You will be happier in the long run and hunting will remain the fun way to get meat for your entire life.Enjoy the journey

I had a lab named Saxton; my next dog will most likely be named Art.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

I just got a 3 Rivers catalog and they had a little piece about their Mascot named Bulls-eye that just passed away.  Bulls-eye was a fine dog, 3 Rivers a fine company.  In memory of Bulls-eye......everyone wants a Bulls-eye,right?

Bob Miller

Bowhunting is not just a way of life, it is also fun.

Is it too late to be what I could have been?
