1/4...WOW are they all nice.  I like the Ebony riser on yours.

Take it outside tomorrow and take some pic's and post them when you get a chance.

Anyone know what the bottom wood is?

This was my first custom bow and I couldn't be happier. JD makes on heck of a bow. The pictures don't do these bows justice. Good luck with yours.

The grip feels strange at first because it's like nothing you have ever felt.  But then you quickly get used to it.  The bulge fits right into the palm of your hand and I think this is the main reason these bows shoot where you are looking.

J.D. can replicate any grip style if you don't know about this one.

Let me chime in about the grip.

I admit, I was skeptical about the grip when I first opened up the demo bow last winter. It looked different, it felt different, and I was sure I didn't like it. I shot the bow for a full week, maybe 40-50 shots a day, all different positions, you name it, I tried it. I would shoot groups over a period of hours, shoot one shot and put the bow down, then go work on rods for a while. Later, pick it up and just shoot another arrow. No re-positioning, just pick it up and shoot. And you know what?? This grip works. Period. No BS, no excuses, it's a good design.

So, if at all possible, get one to try. A buddies, someone at a shoot, one of the demo bows, just get your hands on one and try it. I was sure I wouldn't like it. I KNEW it wouldn't work for me, no matter how nice the bow was. Here's a picture of the riser on my Mojostik 56", take a close look at the grip.

And here's how it shoots with that grip.

Of course, your mileage may vary, but I don't think so, lol.

I have to agree with TJ and Kevin. One of the keys to shooting accurately is being able to grip the bow the same for each shot. JD's grip allows for consistent hand placement shot after shot. Admittedly the bulge in the grip does take a little getting use to (I'm talking minutes not days) but it is the key to this bows hitting where its pointed. Here's some pics of my new Mojostick...

JD is a true artist and makes one beautiful bow which is just plain fun to shoot. I have a hard time putting mine down.

TJ, I hear you bro....a Whisperstick Support Group sounds like a good idea...LOL    I think my next one will be a 56"er.  Although I'm hoping in the future he comes out with a 3 piece TD recurve.

I'd like to see a TD also, but make mine with the Bowbolt system. And I know what you mean about shooting it all the time, I'm destroying my bag target's center. Maybe I should shoot some of my other bows, to even out the wear a bit, LOL.

The Great Jashu

Fred- I see you are shooting carbons. They just flat out blister out of a whisperstik dont they?

As far as grips go, JD does make a signature grip too. Its the grip on the bottom bow pictured. It has the overlays on bottom. I like that grip better personally. Two of my own bows are the bulge type grip. I had JD custom form them by flattening the back of the grip for me. They still have the bulge in the sides for hand placement. They are all good.
No hunter should feel guilty for killing a deer that doesnt meet someone else's expectations.

Jashu, Yep those carbons are like rockets and mine weigh 570gr.  I never shot any of JD's other grips. The test bow he sent had his standard grip (bulge) and its what I'm use to now. Maybe I'll have him send me one with his signature grip just so I can see the difference.
